Maybe you could try to explain them with saying how they should be proud by having you who you are, but still.. If you think that it is too much to risk for and if you are okay with that, then that's good as well. I also never went to a convention (I did once, but it was a book convention, not an anime/video game/comic type one). So I am sure that I will get a chance one day, same for you! ^_^

Aww, but there must be a way... You have to start and explain them calmly when they are in a good mood. You have to explain that you want to have some fun and that you don't get much chances like that.
It would be really great if you could go because it is so near you..

Comic Con sounds like so much fun! I want to go so bad but I live far away! Only 30 minutes away? So lucky. You should be able to go.
