I used to be a huge Bleach fan, and I still like it and follow it, but I know what you mean...
Actually, coming to think of it, what really catches your attention is the variety of powers, the fact that each shinigami has a sword that reflects his/her personality. However, at some point, it started suffering from "Dragonball Syndrome" (sorry, DBZ fans), which is, it turned into a desperate race for power, if you know what I mean.
My point is, though I still want to know how will this story end (if they ever give it an end), I get your point. It could be better.
Bleach is one of those love/hate series. I've been a fan ever since the manga came out in the U.S. and I understand why people do not like it, it's a typical shonen series and they tend to go OVER THE TOP. You find out about the little bear thing within the first 10 episodes (it makes since with the plot). I don't think you would want me to go into to many details, XD! I hope you enjoy RomeoXJuliet, I'm loving that series.
