Aw, Mimmi, you flatter me. *hugs* I'm glad my workshops have helped you so much! If they make it more enjoyable for you to write, then I've done my job. :D
While our writing processes seem very different, I do know what you mean. I feel very close to my characters, but sometimes I don't feel the full emotions of an event until I'm actually writing it. Like in the latest chapter of Imperial Guard, there's a certain conflict at the end of the chapter. While I was planning it, I felt sad, but while I was writing it, I felt like I was going to cry. I'd love to hear more about how you go about writing a story~
Also, yes! Montana has fields, moutains, and woodland. It's also very quiet in most places, I'd imagine.
Becky's characters are cuddled close in my arms but my own are a distance away from me with an umbilical chord between us.
That's a very intriguing way of putting it. I switched to writing mainly in first person a little while ago... my natural tendency is to write in third, but somehow I end up pushing myself (and the reader) much further away from the characters while in third. When I'm working on something original, I find that I almost have to switch to first to close the gap.
When it comes to fanfic, though, I still let myself use third. It has its advantages, and it makes for a nice change. :P
