well, i usually blow on my games/game slots, and they usually work after that, cause like you said the reason the games normally don't work is because of dust.
and it's not worn out, because i never played it much (not that i remember, anyway) and i havn't played it since, like, 2005 :/
I've had the GBA problem before, and it's happened a million times on my DS. If my screen says a game's not inserted, I take the cartridge out and blow into the game cartridge and catridge slot. I know that sounds really weird, but it works with mine maybe it'll work for yours!

yeah i blow on it too - generally its because of dust - either that or its so worn out it wont work anymore >.< - like my poor old nintendo
