I wouldn't need to check your IP, by checking into the member I banned, I can instantly see who shares the same IP. So I already knew you weren't. The other moderators for chat, cannot see the same info that I can since they are not chat administrators or a moderator for the actual site, only for chat. So they wouldn't know if you are the same person or not.

The way I see it, your friend was harassing others, got in trouble, and that pains you so you're naturally upset. No one likes to learn that one of their friends is capable of being that ugly to other people after all. I don't need to accuse anyone of anything, I investigate and make my decisions based on what I see and find, not on what people tell me.

As for chat, you were angry and confrontational in chat and usually it's best to take concerns you have over something, directly to staff (via pm's and such) instead of creating a fuss in chat. Chat isn't the place for that kind of discussion and most likely why you were booted.

It's been explained to you several times what exactly happened there. The facts are simple: our terms of service were knowingly violated and the violating member was punished. That's it, that's all. It's cut and dry.

Instead of accepting that, you go on a relative roll about the wrongs done to this member when it is quite clear they are in the wrong. You make things worse by disrespecting a member of the Senior Staff for doing what as right.

You just need to stop. You're being childish, disrespectful and rude, and it's not appreciated.

I just can't believe what happened to AvariceTears. It just seems like such a petty issue that has banned one of the most talented artists on The Otaku. I read the other post in which part of the conversation was posted and there was nothing harassing about it. It was a personal subject that she was about to share but that she did not share, so how can it be called harassment if she didn't continue to share it? It was the other member who actually said "if you don't like then leave." However that doesn't even constitute harassment. It just constitutes an opinion. To accuse someone of lying and going behind their backs and not learning their lesson is a worse crime because you're really attacking that person's charcter without really knowing the person, without really communicating with that person. The correct thing to have done would be to confront that person and to ask them about what the conversation between her and Adam instead of assuming that she lied about creating another account. And I don't see AvariceTears as fleeing from responsibility, I just see that she didn't even have time to defend herself or be warned because she just had her account frozen which was totally unfair. I've been to the chatrooms and they say far more grosser things than what AvariceTears said. But now it's become a personal vendetta and a personal attack on one member of theOtaku.

But when someone is PRETENDING to be a GAY guy who was raped and is also hugging other people in chat when asked not to, in addition to insulting comments like babe, time of the month, etc. Then there is nothing innocent about it.

This is known as Trolling/Baiting/Sexual Harassment all in the name of upsetting others for personal entertainment. This type of behavior is what got them banned in the first place.

Also, to be clear, there is no majority vote on this. I don't just ban someone based on word or mouth or the majority, instead I entered the room in stealth mode as a chat admin to see if there was any truth to the claims that they were harassing others.

So I saw this entire incident with my own eyes and there is no mistake that they were deliberately harassing others in chat.

I'd like to make a clarification.

AvariceTears was not, repeat NOT banned for being offensive to Teapot Domescam. Said member was not even online when this incident occurred. (I know. I checked personally because I've been keeping an eye on both for a while now.)

AvariceTears was banned for continuing the same behavior that got their original InsaneAndroid account banned: harassment of other members. This was not a "hey, I don't like you, you're banned" decision. This decision took several hours of patience to even decide whether any action was even necessary.

Incidentally, both AvariceTears and Teapot Domescam trace to the exact same IP address.

Don't you just love when people jump on the bandwagon instead of finding out what really happened Beth?

Anyway, read the previous post kids. Trolling someone in a manner that is actually sexual harassment isn't innocent by a long shot.

If this member was truly changed and wanted to fit back in, they would have never pulled that arsine stunt of pretending to be a gay guy and hugging the other member when asked not to.

They even admitted in a post that they shouldn't do that kind of stuff anymore and yet here we are, a year later, and they were STILL doing that crap.

So saying they didn't know what they did wrong is utter bullshit. They knew exactly what they were doing and just didn't care that they were upsetting or annoying other people.

From my understanding of the situation, the chat was between two very good friends Teapot and Avarice, both of whom are quite close and tease each other. Avarice in general has a very teasing attitude and she is also very blunt about her opinion. I don't think a person should be punished for that in general, when it comes to things such as critique. However, the chat seemed to be only for those two yet other came in and became so offended they felt the need to bring in a mod? I find that a bit rude. If Avarice wasn't harassing those third parties personally, or in correct terms, truly harassing then it stands to reason that their behavior was their own. Teapot and Avarice were speaking to each other with clear understanding of the others meaning and personality. They are great friends. Avarice doesn't deserve to be thrown out so suddenly. She was banned from her first account but was given a reprieve and ALLOWED to create a new account for herself. I also I’m very familiar with her and her character; she is merely a blunt and sarcastic person who is very close with her friends in that way. If others misunderstood her meaning, that is their fault and not hers. No one person is different, obviously, and when you come across one you don't understand you can't lash out at them. She is generally kind and very objective when leaving comments to people and treats her friends with a high regard. I know her. She did NOT mean to offend anyone, and I’m sure did NOT know that she was bothering people who would report her for conversing with her friend. If she had known that they were going to get so agitated by other people talking, then she would have likely left to chat somewhere else.

I know there are people who sometimes just go around and harass others, but that's not the case here. There was no harassment, other people weren't meant too and shouldn't have come in to become involved, and as far as I can see the only thing that's been really stated as an issue here is that there was supposedly harassing statements made by Avarice to another, that being Teapot. So essentially, Avarice is being banned for talking informally with her very close friend.

If I wasn't aware of the situation, I may have also been under the impression that this person was being harassing and just kept coming back despite being banned. But I don't judge. And I know her well. I know that her old account had circumstances and allowances that let her create a new one. Please, before you scrutinize a situation, get the facts from those INVOLVED not the morons who think themselves clever enough to deduce what they believe to be going on. Chances are they are wrong.

Avarice has been good on the site since recreating her new account. She loves it here, she has friends here, and every time until people start trying to bud into her life she never has any problems.

I sincerely hope this isn't the end of this for her.

what i see messed up is that one little misconception creates an entire mob of angry ppl that just bashes on that one person. its hurtful to the person being ganged up on and i find it unfair. if you think about it, bashing on avarice for having a one on one conversation with teapot that was just misunderstood, goes against the rules in itself i think. [NO BASHING!!! DX] I dont have to know avarice to the fullest to know that just cuz she made a mistake, that everyone should hate her just based on this information. Well, I think it was the right thing. Obviously, by not abiding by another members wishes to stop a topic, they were being rude. The rules say that members should be nice to each other. Obviously, they missed that part. It doesn't matter who reported them, and it doesn't matter if the person now wants to claim they weren't offended. I can see more than one thing in that entire conversation that was just rude. So, personally, I agree with the decision. Besides, I've witnessed the same member cause problems in the chat before.

i always thought avarice is just a super frank person.. she speaks whatever's in her mind clearly without much consideration to the other party.. *shot* XD although teapot claims that avarice is being offensive only to her, no offense to teapot but i think thats how deep their relationship is.. and teapot accepts it.. even defended for it.. but if there were other parties that got offended by how they interacted with each other, since they cant help but see what they're talking about, they might not understand and probably just jumped to conclusions.. although i dont really know much about avarice as much as teapot does, i've had a few talks with her and indeed, she had some critics that hits the spot.. *raises an eyebrow* XD but whatever she says is up to others to interpret.. then again... some people might not think positively..

in the end, it's up to the mods.. but i dont think it's fair to see these negative comments toward her.. we do not tolerate harassment around here.. period.

First, I heard it from Teapot Domescam that her and AvariceTears were in there and they were just playing mean...but thats how I heard it

second, I know this wont help she is my friend, but if she is innocent and was blamed without someone telling her what she did wrong then I can see how she feels horrible and doest know...but thats just what I heard

I do hope it gets resolved soon, as she is my friend and I would hate to see her leave

Well I was in the same chatroom the day before she got banned and I didn't notice anything wrong either. The only person she harassed was me, but we were just joking around. It wasn't serious AT ALL. I remember some members were asking why she was being so mean to me, but I didn't answer because we were JOKING. I rememer InsaneAndroid's account and that one was horrible, but avaricetears has really done nothing that bad to anyone on the new account. I don't think the ban should be permanent. Besides, Adam gave her permission to make a new account since her last one had been frozen and she admitted her mistake and even wrote an apology to adam

Not so. I think that no one is beyond changing their behavior and you can "Escape your bad past" by doing things in the present to change errant behaviors. But, unfortunately this isn't 100%.
