That's just the period and world you are playing in, it's not quit as an immersive RPG as some, where you have to make decision with your actions that change the story and how everything works out (like Mass Effect or an open ended game like Oblivion), AC leads you on a pretty straight line of how the story should go... but of course its an RPG. Final Fantasy games have that straight line path too. It's just the style of game. AC isn't a strategy game like the Total War games, it's not a racing game obviously hehe, and it's not a fighter like Mortal Combat, it's an RPG. A very different type than say the Witcher, but an RPG nonetheless.
Oh, and to answer your query about what an MMO is, it stands for massively multiplayer online. You know, like world of warcraft where there are thousands of people playing the same game with each other online, and doing stuff with each other. A lot of MMOs, while they still have good graphics, will dumb them down a little bit, cause when you have hundreds of people around you and the graphics are too badass, it can stress out the servers hosting the game... that and they want to appeal to the masses, so they want people that don't have top of the line computers to still be able to play.

Don't get me wrong, AC is good, and their cinematics are freaking badass. Everyone can agree to that... although their horse animation is a little wonky lol. Red Dead Redemption probably has the best horse animations of any game out there, they did such a wonderful job with that.
But there really are a lot of games that are better. There are some new AC's coming out, and one of them really soon, I think, right? They will probably be better I'm sure. Games improve with each sequel. I think it's interesting you mention AC period, cause to me, it IS an rpg. An action adventure one obviously... but you are roll playing as a character that is not you, in a fantasy world.
Exactly. DCUO Had a great opening vid and the graphics look tight, but like you said, I'm sure they had to water them down a little just so that the legions of people playing the game won't crash the server every single day

The cinematics really are right up there with AC's. The actual gameplay of AC isn't any better than most games, in my opinion. And the graphics on a PC game is ALWAYS going to beat a console, even the ps3, cause you don't have duel cards firing away in a playstation.
And a game like The Witcher 2 is far better looking than any AC game. Hell, even the Witcher 1 was better lol.
You also gotta remember, TOR is an MMO too. It can't be too super crazy on graphics or the servers will laaaaaaaaaaag something awful. Lag in raids or dungeons = dead and pissed off players. And when you get hundreds of people milling about in one city and the graphics are stressing too much it'll lag the server too. MMOs have to be able to withstand being played on all kinds of PCs and still look nice. So it really is a different medium that isn't comparable to a single player PC game.

I used to have the 5200. Had Star Wars and Pacman...but my mom ended up throwing it away cuz they weren't making games for it anymore. I was like wtf?! I had to wait years before I was able to get another console.

The graphics are awesome. Some games nowadays can't come close to having these kinds of graphics.

Cripes, the graphics are so breath taking. Gaming has come a long way from Pacman from the old Atari days
