Not so. Han came up a begger and a con man way before he even amounted to anything. He was part of the Navy for a while there until he had to punish and whip Chewie. From there he became a smuggler, struggling for a long time before he actually won the Falcon from Lando. He had a girlfriend that sold out Lando and a bunch of people and that's why when you see them in Episode V, Lando was acting pissed. He was betrayed by a lot of people and that made him the way he was in the beginning. As far as fighting, he's been able to fight Boba Fett in the past. And you have to be pretty good in a scrap to survive all those years having a price on your head by none other than Jabba the Hutt. His own boy sold him out and thats how he was frozen. Otherwise he would've still be on the run from Jabba. In the beginning it was just him and Chewie. Years later when Chewie and his youngest son die, he comes back stronger and better.
I dunno, different medium there and totally different characters. Han has been through a lot, but so has Mal. They can both shoot, fly like crazy, and deliver quips like no tomorrow lol. And really, both characters can come off as pretty cold hearted. The difference is, Han, for a lot of it anyway, not all mind you... does it for his own good. Mal, does it for his self made family and crew. Me and mine, as he calls it. Han does start to learn that lesson later on.
To me, Mal is a tougher character, in personality at least. He's been betrayed by his own government, fought for what he really believed it, and lost... and lost really big. His faith, his belief in people, and his whole way of life. He had to start from nothing and eek out a living as one of the losers. Han Solo has never faced that. He fought the impossible war with Luke and the rebellion... but they won, right? Han started out purely for his self and no one else, then learned to include other people in his care.
So I think in a battle of willpower, Han can't measure up to the amount of grit Mal has. Simply because he's never had to. I do indeed believe Mal is a tougher character.
As for a physical fight. Who knows? They can both shoot well I'm sure. And well, Han might not be able to shoot first, because Mal totally would too. XD
Although I would think in a fist fight, Han probably would lose. Mal seems like more of a scrapper to me. Han's type would be to avoid bar fights and fights in general, they cause too much attention and all that. Mal, Jayne and Zoe to boot, are all scrappers.
Your going to agree with this, but I can't: There were a comparison with people saying that Captain Mel from Firefly could beat Han. Sorry, I don't believe that. With as much as Han has done and been over the years, he could take him out and Captain Kirk. Let the flame war start cuz I fired the first shot!!!
I was in high school when I had that figure LOL. We got 'em when they re-released to originals back in the theater. I wasn't old enough to see any of them the first time around, obviously lol, so I had to go see them then.
