I would have to agree with you...that doesn't seem fair. I had no idea they gave you a limited menu to choose from. :/ Jeez. I can see if people maybe would try to take advantage of the free meal, but that's no reason to only offer the crappier meals.
I bet my boss would be the type to limit the menu... >.> She already makes us do things that I think are stupid. It is like she doesn't want to provide a quality service but would rather cut costs. Ok, I understand the value of not wasting things, but serving a customer some coffee that has gone cold and then been steamed to re-heat it just seems wrong to me. People want good fresh coffee, not some leftovers. Ugh.
I would like to point out that where possible I throw that old stuff away and make a fresh one. She just gets angry if she notices XD so I have to be sneaky.
Anyway, back to your post, I agree with you. If they are going to offer free food as a gesture of good will and thanks then they should darn well let them have the pick of the menu!
