Thanks! I've done it for a few years and it's not really that bad. The worst part is the last couple hours, right before they feed us, because we can smell the food cooking but we can't have it. But it's actually kind of fun, because everyone gets together and we do all these group activities (mostly games and community service). But yeah, it's kinda tough.

Yeah. I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard people said that because in less enlightened times, people thought that sneezes were the body trying to get rid of demons. So they'd say, "God bless you" in an attempt to ward off the demons. Of course, if it's not said in response to a sneeze, there's probably more of a religious context.

Entirely true, but people are more willing to donate when they hear that we're actually doing something. (Community service, fasting, et cetera.) Less people are willing to donate when you're like "Hey, can you give me money?" Fasting isn't the healthiest thing, but it's not harmful over short times. I've done it before and I felt fine (though hungry, of course). Think of it this way. If you ask people for money, they'll usually be like, "Well, I should, but I really don't want to, plus I've given to that other charity before so..." But when they hear you're not going to eat for over a day, they're like, "Wow, I'm glad that's not me. I suppose I could part with a few dollars to pay to see you suffer." Lol. Although I said that as a joke, that seems to be the mentality of some people. Anyway, I've had good experiences in previous years. I don't mean to start spouting that cheesy stuff people say about community service, but it actually was pretty fun and inspiring to see all those people doing all that work. Especially considering that when I was their age I spent most of my time lying on the couch eating chips.

Haha thanks! We got bacon, eggs, muffins, and pancakes when we were done. We were glad to have them.

I think that saying originated from a long time ago though, so a lot of people say it without meaning it literally.
