Hello, everyone!

You have reached the rambling, the fangirling, and the general chill-pad of theOtaku's NightBeck, a.k.a Becky, a.k.a Crimson Lotus the Irish Ninja.

... okay, maybe not the last one. But people will be calling me that one day.

This is your place to chill, talk about life and fandom, and be generally crazy. So go on. Play nice, be good to each other, don't make me hurt you.

My favorite series: Princess Tutu, Ookiku Furikabutte, Mushishi, xxxHOLiC, Monster, Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, Escaflowne, and Baccano!

My writing: Cafe Cliche

... right.

Okay, so we definitely talked about going to an onsen last night. I wasn't mistaken about that. So why the hell did I just spend two hours in a noisy, crowded mall while everyone went shopping for the kids?

I mean, they're obviously perfectly within their rights to change their plans. It is, after all, their house. But it would have been nice for someone to let me know so I could have gotten some extra sleep instead of this massive headache?

EDIT: ... 'kay nevermind, we're still going. I would have preferred to skip the department store, but I'm glad we're still going.

Starting to look back very nostalgically on sleeping past 7:00am.

Right. Time to go to the department store to invest in some earplugs strong enough to block out tiny screaming Japanese girls. I have to rant a bit. Because I adore Mai and Kana, but God, they are high-strung. They're either like this, run...

According to the Jacksonville Electric Association's website, about 84,930 of their customers are without power. And we've been one of them since early yesterday afternoon.

This is not, however, true of the person whose internet I am leeching off of.

We didn't really get hit that bad, all things considered. My mom and I actually went out in it for a bit last night to pick up takeout. But think of 24 hours without air conditioning, or even fans, in August Florida heat, and you can probably imagine why I woke up very cranky this morning. Trying to sleep in a convection oven is really not fun. Especially when you're woken up every few hours or so by things falling on the roof and transformers blowing very loudly.

Computer battery's almost run down, so I should head off. The weather seems okay now, if a bit windy, so I know the JEA crews are out there somewhere. Time to go see if I can't flag one down before this heat drives me crazy.

Two reasons why I will be glad to leave Florida.

1. So last night, these kids tried to break into my neighbor's car. I do believe I understand why, because my neighbor, despite having crazy expensive gadgets all over the place, does not lock his car at night. Genius, that.

Anyway, he runs out with his gun and chases the kids down the street, where they proceed to escape through our backyard. Let me repeat that: my gun-wielding neighbor and a bunch of petty thieves were running around my backyard last night. DO. NOT. WANT.

2. Tropical Storm Fay's projected track is close enough to Jacksonville to cause fun times for all. And by fun times, I mean that we'll get the typical trees falling, canal flooding, and power going out, and that's if it stays a tropical storm. Please don't become a hurricane, Fay. I will be sad.

Oy.
