I like the fog as a visual metaphor for the boy's mental state. (Although I kind of like fog in general. >_>)
It's also cool how you can tell so much about your world with such a tiny snippet of writing. There are all sorts of neat details in this (the fog, the proximity to the gods' territory, the fact that people need to pass through this to get to the village, etc.).
Hehe . . . Becky failed her own prompt. Dun dun dunnn! Meh, it ended up giving you something neat to write, so whatevs.
I liked that there was no genre blindness here. Yes, it's mysterious and yes, Leo's mind felt less there than not. But he was still feeling conscious enough to know of the possibilities, he could still roll with them for the time being.
I don't think that came out right, but I hope kind of what I'm getting at is in there. If nothing else, I'm just sad that this excerpt had to end so abruptly. Heh . . . though I suppose you use that to your advantage to convince us to come back and see how things are going, nya?
And yeahhh . . . we took too long this week to write. D'oh.
