Honestly? I've been a Hetalia fan for sixish year? I don't ship any of the characters and get along fine in the fandom. You don't have to interact with other fans if the shipping part bothers you. It is actually pretty easy to do since there very few canon ships in Hetalia.

As someone from England, I feel his depiction is remarkably accurate.
In all seriousness, it's a bit of fun while learning a bit about history which is very accurate. I treat Hetalia like Animaniacs. I can see it's not meant to be taken seriously, so I don't feel offended by it.
The Korean's only hate it because the depiction came from the Japanese perspective, they're probably more tolerable with other nation's opinions on them.

I've hardly watched Hetalia, maybe a few episodes and I believe that it could technically be qualified as racist but in a way that's... not racist if that makes any sense, I mean they're poking fun at everybody. Sometimes people just need to learn to laugh at themselves and stereotypes instead of taking things to heart. So Hetalia is just a good laugh at everybody really.
I've never seen Hetalia, but I'm pretty familiar with the concept. I'd say it would only be racist if it made fun of some countries, but not all of them. My impression is that everyone gets poked fun at equally, but I could be wrong.
Please forgive my uninformed opinion. At one point, I wanted to watch Hetalia, but now I'm not so interested. Maybe it was the fans shipping every country together in ways that... I didn't want to know about that ruined it for me.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

It's satire. It's not racist. The dub can be a little intensive....but as a history minor...all of the historical facts check out. Which is nice.

I could care less. It's funny and that's all that matters. It's stereotypes making fun of other stereotypes.

I understand, there are a lot of Hetalia fans like that, and honestly, it bugs me, too. =.=
But please, please don't let that stop you from watching Hetalia. There are so many great things to it that it would be a shame for you to miss it.
