....Eep...
Um, spoilers. You have been warned.
...I don't think any anime has made me so scared for my own life. I've been scared for the character's life, but my own... ironically enough, it's not the Titans that freakin' scared me, but the humans about to kill those three... *shudders*
BUT SERIOUSLY... I have no idea what it was, but they portrayed Armin's desperation perfectly, from the calmed determination of hold-your-fire-I've-got-an-idea to the panicked desperation of holy-flip-I'm-doing-everything-I-can-just-don't-kill-me. It's been five minutes and I still am afraid for my own life. I...holy cow... the intensity of that scene.... HOLY COW ;n;
As for, you know, the actual plot that went on... PLOT TWIST! I'm not going to lie, I didn't see Eren's sudden superpower coming. I was totally reminded of Deadman Wonderland when he bit his thumb It's all new and mindblowing to me. Well, I obviously knew he was going to survive. You don't just kill off your main character... well... *cough*DeathNoteCodeGeass*cough* OTHER THAN THAT... I wasn't expecting that, at least... Well done, Studio Wit, well done...
So... BACK TO WATCHING ATTACK ON TITAN
...just a sec... I need to go scrape my mind from off the walls...
Knowledge Beforehand?
A couple of recommendations, lots of review, a ton of pictures, and the fact that it swept almost every entry it went in for the AniMercury 2013 awards.
Plusses?
IT'S ALMOST LIKE A DANG MOVIE, EXCEPT... IT'S AN ANIME
The opening gave me chills. GAVE ME CHILLS. Very few openings can do that.
Animation is absolutely beautiful. It's one of the great things that pull you into it.
Soundtrack... no words. No freakin' words.
The characters feel very... real. Like they're real people. It adds exceptionally to the emotion and the entire feel of it.
Minuses?
I didn't like that they added the lines when a character got a dark face in the very beginning. They could have done fine without that.
Uhm...not for the super-duper-sensitive, but I bet most people can handle it.
Story: 8.1

Freakin' amazing. I'm excited to continue watching now that I'm getting around to watching the dang thing
Plot Summary
Rintarou Okabe, a self-proclaimed "mad scientist", accidentally sends a text message into the past one day. This completely changes the world he's in, and he must figure out what happened, and how to control this new-found time travel machine he made.
Plot
Pretty good, taking plenty of twists and turns to keep the watcher invested. It also does a good job of explaining a somewhat complicated plot without being confusing. Add in great humor and a well-done romance, and you got the plusses of the plotline of this anime.
One of the minuses is that, though, they take an emotion and try to play on it over and over again without adding much detail or change. In the beginning of the emotional part, it really does affect you, but as the same thing repeatedly happens you start to become detached an apathetic to the characters.
The other minus is the ending. In theory it would have been a good ending, but it felt it really lacked substance due to it being a two-episode arc with most of the previous arcs all being four episodes. Bringing the ending out for a couple more episodes would have helped it a lot.
8.2
Characters
They do try to develop all the characters. Some of it is very successful, taking you by surprise and making you truly care for characters you never expected to. The biggest issue is that there's a character you're supposed to really, really care for, but the lack of development on this character makes the focus on her feel more like a hindrance, not a blessing.
8.3
Animation
The animation is done fairly well, with unique character designs and a color scheme to make it feel more real. The amazing animation of the eyes is a major bonus. They do take some time to delve a bit into different animation styles, which actually adds in as a plus.
8.9
Music
It had an amazing opening, catchy as well as with great animation.
The ending is, and may always be, one of my favorites. With a great song that fits the message of the anime almost perfectly, paired with a gently changing background, I absolutely love this ending. Even the song's original music video is hauntingly beautiful.
The background music... well, it does what it has to do, and not much else. I don't think I'd ever listen to it outside of the show.

Overall
Great story line with a few flaws, pretty good character development, decent music and beautiful animation, this is one I'd definitely call worth your time.

Other
...I'd say this is worth your time solely for the Japanese voice actors. They do an incredible job with it, one of the best I've ever heard.
...No, seriously. Dat ending song.
...In all honesty, I didn't expect to like Daru as much as I did. ...they really did develop him well, didn't they?
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THIS POST. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN FMA, DO NOT READ.
...NOOO. NOOO. AAAAAARRRGHHHHHHHHHHGGGHGHG NOT HUGHES. NOT HUGHES.
...Okay, calm down, Kyra, start from the beginning...
So. The first two minutes. We heard Mustang talking to Hughes about how he almost killed himself. With a gun. With a gun, barrel in mouth and everything. Oh my goodness, I don't think an opinion of a character has changed so much so quickly before. I've read books where a character gets to the point of barrel in mouth before, and that sent chills down my spine, but this... I had to pace for about five minutes before I could calm down enough to start watching then again.
Then, of course, there's the whole finding out that the fuhrer's secretary isn't who she seems... that's not so much of a complete plot twist, but it's still pretty cool.
And, of course, Hughes... DANGIT, HUGHES.... When he got shot I was like "Pff, he's not really going to die... it's just a fakeout... right.... RIGHT!?!? Of course, when the people were shown carrying the coffin... of course he's dead. Of course. And of course they do everything they could to make absolutely sure you're going to cry, the worst being her daughter crying out, saying he can't finish all his work if he's still buried when he wakes up... gosh, I'm starting to tear up thinking about that again... The best way I can summarize the feeling is to respond to Mustang's "It's supposed to rain today" with a quote from earlier (by Al): "No fair, rain, I'm the one who feels like crying..." OH MY GOODNESS. Do you know how many characters can say that I truly cried at their death? Not many. At all. But Hughes... AHHHHH
Okay. Rant over.
