Film noir was once a popular style of films in the United States, and it's easy to see why. With a darkness and deepness that's fairly beautiful in nature and a complexity that is original and hard to replicate, these types of movies (and books) have gone all the way of the world.
Why?
Are people just lazy, or is the beautiful idea of slowly getting linked with some gang or mafia and not finding a way to escape without the threat of death just lost on us these days?
While I don't exactly know these answers to some of these questions, I know that anime came too late for the noir craze. Even so, there are still noir influences on some anime, such as Cowboy Bebop or Monster. Even some parts of Jijoku Shoujo could be considered to have been influenced by film noir.
There is even an anime called Noir, obviously intended to have noir-based roots.
But despite all this, how cool would it be to have an anime completely based on noir, without bringing outside influences? Do you think it would succeed, or do you think we'd chuckle quietly to ourselves at such a preposterous idea?
What do you think?

Pokemon: 1
Death Note: 3
Yeah, I think Death Note's the superior anime. Granted, I haven't seen a whole bunch of Pokemon to go by, but by what I've seen, Death Note is far superior. Granted, I'm sure Pokemon has its good points, I just haven't seen them. Death Note seems to be far superior in both story line and interesting characters. In the end, though, I'm still willing to randomly burst out into "Gotta Catch 'em All" with my friends.
Our topic today: Sub vs Dub
Yes, it's one of those age-old arguments, and I'm sure you've all spoken your opinion on it before, but I want to know your opinion. Kay? c:
I finally got a review up ;u;
Plot Summary
With an almost Monte-Cristo-esque complicated plot of finding out who did what, why they did it, and how it all fits together, it's almost impossible to give a straight-forward plot summary. It includes three story lines that take place in the early 1930's that include a drink that makes you impossible, a Rail Tracer, two thieves that dress up in impossible costumes, a blood-loving psychopath, and train called the Flying Pussyfoot. (Yes, it's really called that).
Story
Yes, it does confuse you at first... a lot... but as you go on, discovering how everything fits together makes it all the more worth it. It's not easy to make such a complicated plot work, but this anime does it to a tee.
9.4
Characters
With a huge character cast, it's amazing this anime balances them all out so well. No one gets too much spotlight (no one, in fact, could be considered a definite "main character"), and because of the huge cast, you have plenty of favorites to pick from. However, because of the short timing, there isn't a whole lot of development for any character.
8.5
Animation
Original animation style does its job of being recognizable without becoming strange or obnoxious. The color palette does a beautiful job, easily adding to the 1930's feel. Actions scenes were pretty good, though not completely edge-of-your-seat.
8.7
Music
Completely catchy jazz tune for the opening, doing the genre of jazz justice while adding to the entire feeling of the anime.
The absolutely beautiful ending brings a more tender part of the anime into view.
Jazzy background music makes action scenes even more epic, though not completely standing out on their own.

Overall
Baccano! (Italian for ruckus) is just that - a fun time with a bunch of ruckus. It's a jazz-swinging, rick-rolling must-watch.

Jacuzzi is the most kick-butt crybaby who ever lived, and I freakin' love him.
*scats the opening*
Ahh! Woo! Total Drama! :F
Okay, I won't be suprised if I'm actually the only one who watches Total Drama on here, but that won't stop from me to talk about what's been goin' on so far. (PS spoilers... duh)
First off, Sierra going crazy to the point where any living male pretty much becomes either Cody to her. Mwaha! I mean, she was annoying when Cody was there, and she could become VERY annoying at this point, but as long as they keep her as a more side gag for now, I think this is actually pretty awesome.
ScottXCourtney? Who would've thought? Granted I couldn't stand Scott in TDRotI, but so far he's actually pretty cool. I'm starting to ship those two =.=
Duncan? Wha'd they do to you? D: Being all "I'm dating Gwen, but I'm still fighting for Courtney's attention" Not cool, man... not cool. Add in the fact that he's actually becoming nice... Duncan just doesn't hold the appeal he had in past seasons.
Heather just got the boot, which begs the question of how the heck would they still try and push AlejandroXHeather, and what purpose does Alejandro serve now. I hope he doesn't just become all mopey... Sierra's already doing enough of that.
And, of course, the biggest thing going on in TDAS (at least for me)... MAL. Holy freakin' crap. This dude. Is evil. Not to mention he just seemed to come of no where. Going into this season... well, you could have predicted him, but you probably didn't. You know, I think that's part of why they softened Duncan and Scott up is to just make Mal seem more evil. And so far, Mal hasn't been anything but evil. His existence makes Mike's personality has a whole seem not just a whole lot deeper, but a whole lot darker. A whole lot darker. You know, I didn't really like Mal at first, but when he started whistling "Hall of the Mountain King", I flipped my lid. I love that song. And it fits him so well. I mean, listen to the beginning of this song and tell me you aren't just sitting there thinking of Mal running juvie. That's right. Ya can't! It also makes it so much easier to write fanfic regarding Mike. In fact, I might actually do it. For the little to none who actually read this article, should I? It would be so much fun~
In honor of my best friend getting an account (PinkShadow9), I'll review her favorite anime. c:
Plot Summary
When Haruhi accidentally stumbles upon her school's host club and knocks over a 80,000 yen vase, in order to pay it back, she gets recruited... as a host!
Story
As this is a very episodic anime, there isn't much plot development, but when they brought it, yes, they brought it.
7.9
Characters
I'm not going to lie. OHSHC has some of the best character development I've seen. With interesting backstories that are executed well, you really start to feel them, and see the sadder side of being the child of a rich and famous executive.
9.6
Animation
While not being extremely outstanding, the animation did what it needed to do. As a shoujo anime, they did focus on the eyes, roses, and sparkles, and as a comedy, the bring enough of the hilariousness needed to make you laugh just that much harder.
8.5
Music
Like the animation, the music did what it wanted to do. I probably wouldn't listen to it much on its own, but it did add to the mood. My only complaint is that at the climax, the music felt like it was overpowering the moment, taking away from it instead of adding.
Both the opening and ending are really good, though not being some of my favorites.

Ouran High School Host Club is iconic in its genre, and a definite must-watch, while still not being one of my absolute favorites.

I love Kyoya. I really do. At first I thought he'd get no development, but he ended up with the best development. .... *hides from Zoe's glare*
