Psycho-Pass Review

Psycho-Pass 2 Review

Side note: When the movie comes out, I will once again edit this post and work the movie into the Psycho-Pass 2 review, as I feel as if the movie is meant to be considered part of the second season.

Story

The show continues with another intense plot. It continues with its dark style and ever-twisting plot. It tackles a deep and sometimes hard to understand theme, and tackles it well.

However, final few episodes did feel a little rushed, and some of the expectations built up from the first season did leave the watcher a little disappointed.

9.1

Characters

This season introduced a few new characters, and many of them were developed well. However, it did little to develop characters introduced in the previous season. Some development from some of the new characters was teased, but it never really gave you their full development, leaving the watcher wanting more.

8.2

Animation

The animation is incredibly on par with its first season. The dark color scheme is still prevalent, and the character designs still work rather well for it. The only disappointment is that it lacks a some of the color that the first season had.

9.2

Music

The opening is a step down from the first season, being a little less exciting, although it does come with a little gem that reveals itself as the anime goes on.

On the other hand, the ending is a step up from the first season, providing greater animation and more exciting music.

The background music, while for the most part not noteworthy, did well to create the mood. The greatest noteworthy part, though, is the use of great operatic tracks over some of the darkest and most emotional scenes. This makes it more emotional, however, it also tends to become overpowering, too.

Overall

Psycho-Pass 2 is completely on par with its first season. I still recommend both highly.

Other

Though Togane is one of the most deranged antagonists I've seen lately, I still find him kind of sexy. Don't ask my why.

Every time Kogami showed up I felt like crying. And punching the screen. And crying.

Seriously, the way they tackled the omnipotence paradox... It almost didn't make sense, and I was concerned that it was going to crash and burn, but they pulled it off, and pulled it off well. *claps* Congratulations, guys.

I almost didn't notice the ever-so-slightly changing opening. It was things to a Youtube comment that I could make the comparison and see what was happening.
