theOtaku.com Anime Podcast VI - Ep. 26

Ichigo looks at fanart because there is nothing else to do. Evidently, we need to post more news this week. Also, he's learning to say "Desbreko" better. Good times, good times...

Caption Battle: Themed Month Banzai!

"It's that time again..."
"To watch Glee?"
"To find out what other things Nathan Fillion has been in?"
"No... it's time for this week's caption battle!"

But first, last week's winners:

In third place, inverting the inherent horror of the image: fallenangel8!

Little did she know that the dolls would attack her in her sleep. RIP

In second place, because pants are always funny: ChibiSasuke!

They say you don't know what you have until it's gone.
That's what Keiichi thought about his pants.

And in the coveted first place with deliciously spot-on delivery among other things... EtherForce!

Did Keiichi Scream?
Rena squeezed his precious loins.
Keiichi screamed loud.

Fun times... I hope you'll all enjoyed that, though. 'Cause we turn sinister this October...

...yeah, that's right... I'm pulling another Themed Month on you guys! Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome To K-On! Month!

So this week's screencap come from none other than the Main Moe-Man himself, Desbreko (that's DES-BRE-KO). The girls are, from left to right: Yui Hirasawa, Tsumugi Kotobuki (in the back), Ritsu Tainaka, and Mio Akiyama. Enjoy:

You know the drill: type up the funniest, wittiest, most original caption you can think of for the screencap above in the comments below. Also, if any of you would like some tips on writing a great caption, you can find those here.

And like always, theOtaku is open to all submissions and suggestions for weekly feature content. You have a screencap you want used, you can PM me and we can do somethin' about it. So good luck, and remember: we don't get all our screencaps from Des' - he just happens to have more on file than you.

theOtaku.com Anime Podcast VI - Ep. 25

So in a few days the People's Republic of China celebrates its 60th anniversary. Has nothing to do with the podcast beyond timing, really, but I just got out of a Chinatown parade and ridiculously late dinner that involved a lot of lion dancing and now my ears are ringing... again, besides the point. Oh, also, apparently Ichigo has a little sister. I learned something today...

Caption Battle: Who Doesn't Love A Little... Never Mind...

"It's that time again..."
"To wipe out Hannover?"
"To replay that part where you have to sneak past the convicts all the way up to Harley Quinn without being seen?"
"No... it's time for this week's captions battle!"

But first, last week's winners:

In third place, with some serious snap to his one-liner: mariomario!

Where the strong rule, the weak are used as barbells.

In second place, with a well done, poetic "long caption(TM)": MrPhoenix!

At first when he saw the locals capture and carry off a group of girls to the nearby volcano, Eclipse thought about interfering for the sake of justice. When he learned they were in fact fan girls, he dismounted and kissed the ground, knowing then and there he had reached Shangri-La.

And he lived happily ever after.

And in the coveted first place, because we love Des'... Ace!

Obscure TheOtaku.com fact #388:

Desbreko is actually the collective name of a little-known tribe of loli obsessionists.

We love you Des'! Also, this was an excellent, excellent week. Good thing we pulled that other screeny, eh? Moving on...

This week's screencap comes courtesy of Hisaishi, and features the series Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. "The dolls are, left to right Mion, Keiichi, Satako and Rika. The abuser is Rena." Have at it:

theOtaku.com at the New York Anime Festival

We are thrilled to be taking part in a big way at this weekend's New York Anime Festival.

First, we'll have a booth on the show floor where you can meet us in person.

Second, we have three sponsored panels, on each day of the convention. The first, "How to Get Famous On the Internet" talks about building an audience online, the second, "Kyle Hebert Voice Actor Extraordinaire" stars our guest Kyle, and the third, "Color Me Perfect" is about how to digitally color anime artwork, taught by our long-time member ElvesAteMyRamen.

Third, as alluded to above, Kyle Hebert will make an appearance on our behalf, signing autographs and granting hugs.

Fourth, every one of these events will feature information about my own biggest project since Version Vibrant: A manga-inspired iPhone game with a creeping-closer release date.

We hope to see you there! If there's a line to Kyle's autograph signing, I'll make sure all theOtaku.com members get priority.
