t's true, people should be mad at the government, and not at the people themselves. Then again, most people don't realize that fact. Also that is a nice way to cover the Meet up at the expo Ichigo. The Haruhi, well the newer ones are kind of hard to find. I would actually like to have the backwards capability on my PS3 because I would like one system to play all the games for it beacuse I am Lazy and I hate switching the wires around when I feel like playing Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. Then again, since it is a new genoration system, it makes you feel like you should play the new games that are coming out. The PS2 chip must be powerful and hard to reproduce because you barely see any PS2 Roms out there. SO I can see how it is expensive and costly.
I completely agree with you. I entered a Japanese speech contest in Colorado a few years ago and did a speech talking about the Rape of Nanking and calling for a formal apology from the Japanese government. And then after the speech I had the Consul-General of Japan in Colorado stand up in the crowd and tell me in a heated voice that they had already apologized for it and to move on (I was the only one called out publicly, the anti-whaling speech didn't get that sort of treatment, but war crimes... pushes buttons). Yeah, still some denial there.
Thanks,
Ichigo
P.S. And my progressive professor even tried to talk me out of doing the speech because it was a "sensitive topic".

Re: Sesame Street Games: I actually don't think "educational" games were their only specific thing. I'm pretty sure even regular-type games like Mario, Zelda, maybe Sim City would count under their "games can teach useful skills" deal. Wouldn't just have to be crappy educational "Mario is Missing" type garbage.
Re: Playstation 3 Backwards Compatibility: I have a backwards-compatible PS3 for a couple years now and I love it. I also never play PS2 games unless some random thing happens, like a craving to play Katamari - y'know, on grounds that owning the most powerful game system in the world tends to make you want to play newer, current-gen games since you can. I truly, deeply feel that people being hung up on the reverse-compatibility thing is so blown out of proportion and use it more as just another excuse more than anything else.
First it was "oh, it's too expensive, I don't want to get it." Then they pared it down, dropped the price to what they could, and it was "oh, it's not backwards-compatible with PS3, I don't want to get it." Maybe price is the issue, but in all my years, I have rarely come up with a similar situation in which someone refused to buy an Xbox 360 Arcade console because it wasn't backwards-compatible with old Xbox games; on that line, no one seems to care that the 360 is only backwards-compatible with about half the old Xbox games.
Came up in a forum thread once. They felt it was the worst idea ever that the PS3 was no longer backwards compatible, and that they could no longer "play all the PS2 games we love". Someone suggested to her that she just play them on her PS2; she replied she actually never owned a PS2 to begin with. Ahem. Also, PS2s are about $100 a pop now; they're cheap. If PS2 is that much of an issue . . .
Finally . . .
Re: Sino-Japanese Post-War Relations: Clearly the Treaty of Taipei has ruined everything for everyone. Fine, very well, no one has ever been criticized for calling the Chinese Government stupid. More so, I'm concerned about how in Japan, all of this stuff is just kind of brushed aside and over. Japan carried out some truly disgusting war crimes against the people of Southeast Asia, and no one seems to be sorry about it; no one seems to fully appreciate just why the complete demilitarization of the country took place.
Maybe it's just early. Only recently in Vancouver did the government of Canada issue a formal apology to all Chinese emigrates who had to pay a "head tax" to enter the country compared to Europeans who did not have to. There wasn't a lot of money thrown around in compensation, but at least the declaration was made and the government had owned up to a clearly racist policy. Still, some older families who were around when they paid the head tax were in the audience, and it was able to bring closure that particular chapter for them.
That's the kind of mentality I'd really like to see some day, even though at this point in time it's more than likely that only the descendants of Chinese "comfort women" will ever hear anything. If even.
Beyond that, it kinda irks me off that the first Canadian to die in the war was captured and then executed in Hong Kong. That's just not cool.
Nevertheless, not holding any grudges exactly. My own grandma, who survived the war more or less intact, doesn't seem to be holding many outward grudges despite seeing a lot of the acts firsthand - why should I?
Seriously, nobody cares if Sesame Street approves of video games? Not me. I mean, who watches Sesame Street who plays video games? Your right though, probably those educational ones or something...Bleh!
$1000 for and iphone! I don't really care if it's some not-so-famous voice actors. My advice, save your money! Buying it will only cause you pain and regret later!
Nice lecture on pearl harbor and such, Ichigo. I agree with you on China angry with Japan...
I hope they put backwards compatibility on the PS3, I'm buying one soon, so it would be helpful, and cheaper...
I don't know that we really needed Sesame Street to approve video games for children, but whatever. Maybe they were feeling left out and on Sesame Street, that is a big no-no.
Holy smokes, bidding over a grand on an iPhone previously owned by Vic?! I wouldn't even go for that kinda deal for a phone from Crispin Freeman. Fangirls, suggestion: save your money to travel to the next con Vic will be at, see him in person, get his autograph, and maybe a hug. (I've gotten a hug from him; he's awesome.) By the way, this isn't some undercover way of Funi begging for money in these tough economic times, is it?
Oh man, I'd like to see the Eureka 7 movie. They aired the trailer for the dubbed, live-action Blood the Last Vampire movie on Adult Swim last weekend; it opens Friday.
finally a hopeful way to play ps2 games again. not that I need it just that my friend likes to play his games at my house -.- cuz he bought a new ps3 while I have an orginal. lets hope it works.
An Iphone is really not worth $1000. Who cares who owns it -sigh- that is truly f'ed up.
Sesame street approves video games...thats not right...oh well if they want to be stupid let them.

Dear Jesus, I never knew my comment about my cousin still being sore about Pearl Harbor was going to cause issues O_O.
I have to agree with you though on the whole "China angry at Japan" thing. Honestly...no, I'm not even going to go there, I swore I wasn't going to get into any crazy political stuff online. My views typically cause people to not be happy with them. And from my last comment about the PS3 I don't think Someguy's too happy with me anyways. But I will say what's done is done, and I certainly DON'T hold a grudge towards the Japanese, since I've lived there and enjoy their culture and what not (still learning Japanese! I have to learn on my own now since my next school won't have it!! ><)
Bible games? The thought kinda scares me to be truthfully honest. Like I said in my comment on that, most games are okay in moderation and some adult interaction. AKA if you're ten, no Grand Theft Auto, and if you spend more than six hours in one interval JUST playing video games then something is certainly wrong.
People...bidding...for Vic's phone...REALLY? Is that really neccesary? I mean, I like the guy and all, he's a very good voice actor and I've met him once but I mean, 1000 dollars for the dude's USED iphone. And that's why fangirl's get a bad rap. Cause they're spastic like that, and I have to convince everyone for about an hour how I'm not psycho like that. =_=;; Well, it's not my money so no skin off my back...
...Well....UM....EEH.....I got nothing. Zoro...and...yah...not even going to try.

Yeah, goverment-to-people communication (and vice versa) is not always the best. There's got to be a point where fuming over the past ends though, otherwise people never let go and history is doomed to repeat.
The whole Vic iPhone thing is sadly amusing. Sad because, well, it takes a certain class of psychotic fan(girl) to shell out the money to bid on something like that only because of who owned the phone.
Using Your Voice is an amusing short about how to be a better speaker. The catchphrase is "Plenty of lip and tongue action," which is not suggestive at all of course.
