Much love to you both. Much love. I am blowing you kisses internetically!
I feel somewhat ashamed that I've not seen Ponyo yet but have the bizarre urge and somewhat morbid curiosity to see Dragonball: Evolution. Should I get myself to a clinic of sorts?
On a final note, to all those who love Kare Kano: get your hands on the manga. Naow.
Miyazaki movies other than Ponyo better than Ponyo? Toughie. Probably all of them, unfotunately. Granted, I liked Ponyo but looking back, it ain't got nothing on the movies during his hey-day. You know what. I going out on a limb. Since most people like Red Jacket Lupin III (not including me) and can't grasp their minds around the Green Jacket stuff, is Castle of Cagliostro (green jacket) better than Ponyo? I haven't seen all of it for some odd reason and I just wanted to confirm if it's worth it.
And Astro Boy actually looks more like a steaming load of crap. And I was really looking forward to it.

Oh, whoops. Anyways, yeah, I agree- Princess Mononoke is by far the best in my opinion. And I just watched up, like, a day ago... And...
IT WAS AMAZING!
Oh yeah! Thanks for the evil laugh, Batou! We should have a competition who has the better evil laugh, you or Ichigo. God only knows that Ichigo, who seems more... uh... serious? Or something? XD; Point being! He may have a better one than you. I place $3.65 on it! Because that's the only money I have on me.
Anyways. Why 2014? That seems a little bit late, but it's gonna be amazing~ I can't wait to see it. Two more years and I'm in Japan! Yatta!

I remember actually enjoying Kare Kano's ending the first time I saw it, but now I am not so sure what I'll think of it. I've been writing about the series for a while now -- the posts for the first 13 episodes practically wrote themselves. There's just so much to discuss, so much energy and fun in the episodes, and everything is just fantastic.
But the dip starts even before Anno left the series. Eps 14-15 are one-and-a-half episodes of recap, and after that, it's just ... not the same. It is still enjoyable to watch (I particularly love the sheer audacity of ep19 being entirely made up of paper cutout animation), but there's just something missing. I don't want to say the show is missing its heart, because that is something that Kare Kano never lacks; however, I guess it does not beat as strongly.
I mostly think 'Ponyo' deserves an Oscar for its' artwork; the opening alone was quite amazing. I guess I'll hold off on judgments on the live-action GitS movie till I see more stuff on it.
The only MST3K ep I recognized from that list is 'Killer Shrews'; it's a real stinker of a '50s/'60s horror film about a scientist studying how to possibly someday lengthen human life and using shrews as his beginning subject. Of course the darn things grown gigantic and are man-eaters; well, actually it looks like the filmmakers put scruffy bathmats and large fake fangs on a pack of grayhounds. Seriously, you hear a "shrew" bark at one point in the movie.
I've never seen KareKano except clips in AMVs, but it just doesn't look particularly appealing to me to begin with.
So, what's next month's theme for the caption battle? I think it'd be a good idea to pick screenshots from the fantasy stuff like 'Lodoss'; those shows almost riff themselves.

:O Sweet intro song!
YES, MORE EVIL LAUGH! MWHAHAHA! Keep em comin' Batou! Wooo!
Howl's Moving Castle was really great in my opinion :D I actually just finished the novel, which was great. I think Ponyo was good, but not great. Just good. Unfortunately, those are the only two Miyazaki movies that I have seen. Though I do own Kiki on VHS somewhere, but I haven't watched that since I was like 5, haha. So I don't remember it. I plan on watching all of them at one point!
Yeah, I'm actually thinking about maybe going to see Astro Boy. Or I was, rather. I don't really want to anymore. I'll just wait till it comes out on DVD and rent it or something.
Gah, I can't believe I was looking forward to the Wild World of Batwoman. That movie seriously gave me a headache. Though the host segments were awesome, haha. And I actually enjoyed the short at the beginning, that was kinda funny. I'm really looking forward to next week though! And I'm thinking about maybe starting to go to Anime Club when the new series start, but I'm not sure cuz it's kind of late. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Well this was a good way to start off the day. Keep up the great work guys :D
