Question here. What's with the Scottish instruments in the new Forsaken season themes? I clicked on the play button for the first and was happily trounced with bagpipes in Mana Minu Ashita e. IN A ANIME THEME. That was weird. But then Ft. gives me fifes. I'm still trying to cure my Scottish music hangover that has been going on since early April when I got back form the country. Thanks for letting me know that even in anime, I'm not safe.

Agreed. Which is why it's fun to try and provoke on occasion. He just lays the smack down so hard I don't even mind playing the victim just to see it. :-)
hey guys!
excellent podcast as always ;)
my birthday was last week (may 10th) and I turned 19!
w00t!
anyways, it would be awesome if I could get a birthday shoutout from you guys!!
be nice though ;)
Because SomeGuy invited me to say something, I guess I'll have to give it a shot.
Point 1: Yes, Conan is freeloading. But the reason for this, originally, is because Kogoro Mouri (Ran Mouri's dad) is a detective, and it gives Shinichi/Conan a better chance of finding the criminals who shrunk him due to the nature of Kogoro's work.
Point 2:"The 17-year-old girl is in love with the 6-year-old boy who's really a 17-year-old boy."
Not accurate. Ran is in love with 17-year-old Shinichi Kudou, not 6-year-old Conan Edogawa. Countless episodes have showed that. Granted, Ran is often reminded of Shinichi when she sees Conan, but it didn't go to the point where she is in love with Conan.
Point 3:"..the 6-year-old girl who's in love with the 6-year-old boy who's actually a 17-year-old boy..."
Well, Ayumi (Amy) has a crush on Conan, not Shinichi. I assume this is a childhood crush on the part of Ayumi, so there seems to be nothing wrong with that. Besides, Conan ain't in love with her.
Point 4:"We've got the 17-year-old girl, probably, who's now a 6-year-old girl who's in love with the 6-year-old boy who's a 17-year-old boy."
Gotta admit, this is the trickiest part in the relationships presented. I can't defend much on this one since I haven't read much on their relationship. But from the way I understand it, Ai seems to be attracted to Conan because she can relate with him due to their similar fates. The way I see it, she's not attracted to the exterior child appearance of Conan but the inner teenager in him.
Point 5:"It's just great that they're pushing that pedophilia barrier."
And so I go back to my abnormal psychology book and to online references on mental disorders. Pedophilia, by the way, is a sexual disorder.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, 4th edition, Text Revised (DSM IV-TR), pedophilia is characterized by these symptoms:
A. Over a period of at least 6 months, recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally age 13 years or younger).
B. The person has acted on these urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty.
C. The person is at least age 16 years and at least 5 years older than the child or children in Criterion A.
Note: Do not include an individual in late adolescence involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 12- or 13-year-old.
With these criteria in mind, it shows that the series does not promote pedophilia at all. As far as I know, none of the regular characters aged 13 years old and above have shown recurrent sexual urges towards any of the child characters within a period of six months. Ran never had sexual thoughts and urges towards Conan. The same goes with Ai.
POINT 6: Even though psychology is not my favorite subject, I'll have to thank Conan for leading me to graduate in this field. The lessons seem to prove valuable in cases such as this.
So...is this pretty enough, SomeGuy?

Oh that's cool you're getting married~
I never thought of it like that, the whole Conan love circle stuff. It's all just creepy lol.
I've seen that Bayonetta chick and it would be a shame if there weren't any hentai djs of it 0_o
A traditional Japanese wedding sounds awesome; lucky Ichigo!
A non-binding interest agreement? Sounds suspicious. But as this is 4Kids we're talking about, they can't get any worse. Wait, maybe it's a cover op from Funimation since they print their own FMA dollars; genius!
Does Pokemon bread taste like Pokemon? Which one?
'The Incredibly Strange Mixed-Up Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Zombies'. Sounds like some people we've all seen at cons.
XD When you said the name Piccolo, I thought you meant piccolo (as in the instrument. O-o;;; (And for the creator of that series, for practically every anime I've seen, there's gonna' be work done by the fans that...will be like that...)
Oh, wow. Didn't know you were getting married, Ichigo. Congrats on that. :D
And regarding the Bayonetta doujin, I honestly can't believe the creator didn't think that someone would make an ero-dou of the woman. Japan is arguably the birthplace of Rule 34. I'm really hoping there was some sarcasm there that was lost in translation, otherwise, I think the guy is out of it.
(And what Trip, or AnimeArchAngel, was talking about in regards to The Lightning Thief was Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, that campy God of War for kids book series that is apparently getting a movie series now. Don't really know if the kid can do any good in Spider-Man, mostly because I don't care about it enough, since Green Lantern is coming soonish.)
Never really noticed how much depth having a two-man team on the podcast adds. But you're doing a good job, Ichigo. =D
