Blame finals for killing the comments (though I'm sooo not in school that I can't use that excuse). ^_^'
I visited Tsukiji while I was in Tokyo in October. I'm partially responsible for getting tourists banned. I touched a Styrofoam box during the Tuna Auction. I = the Devil.
I love sharing this whenever the opportunity arises, so I'll give you a not-so-short excerpt from The New Catholic Encyclopedia: “The date of Christ’s birth is not known. The Gospels indicate neither the day nor the month . . . According to the hypothesis suggested by H. Usener . . . and accepted by most scholars today, the birth of Christ was assigned the date of the winter solstice (December 25 in the Julian calendar, January 6 in the Egyptian), because on this day, as the sun began its return to northern skies, the pagan devotees of Mithra celebrated the dies natalis Solis Invicti (birthday of the invincible sun). On Dec. 25, 274, Aurelian had proclaimed the sun-god principal patron of the empire and dedicated a temple to him in the Campus Martius. Christmas originated at a time when the cult of the sun was particularly strong at Rome.”—(1967), Vol. III, p. 656.
A mouthful, but enlightening nonetheless.
Stay (or get) healthy, both of you! Coughing on your laptops can't be sanitary. Toodles. ^.^

Papa Ichigo needs to give Batou a spanking.

It's called News Nuggets. :P
Hahah, well, there's definitely a difference between what I've observed of secular Christmas and religious Christmas. "Religious" Christmas centers more around Jesus and celebrating his birth (although I doubt Jesus was actually born on the 25th of December, it's just a good excuse okay? XP); secular doesn't. So yeah, worst explanation ever, but meh. >>
*is Christian, by the way*
Apparently you two never watched the Rugrats Kwanzaa episode.
Yessss, Tim and Batou, join us in Movie Sign! The next few episodes are great. Except for that one Mexican Santa movie, that's pretty painful.
"Oh come on! Ok, this is a little rediculous... He kills a deer, he tans the hide, he stretches the skins, he makes an anodized aluminum frame, and he learns to extrude and weld all in about five minutes."
Aah, 'Cave Dwellers' on Moviesign; my favorite MST3K episode. Yep, nothing like seeing a Conan rip-off build a hangglider out of apparently nothing in maybe five or so minutes. Great movie. "All right, you crummy rats, Henry Kissinger says 'Merry Christmas'!"
Welcome back, Ichigo; hope you enjoy Italy. Nice place; at least, from what I remember.

Ok, Here's the breakdown of Nehszriah's comic:
Michiyo Shimizu created a complex, fictional family tree using various theOtaku members. Sangome is my mother, Shinmaru my brother, and Nehszriah is my sister. She based the comic on the Dutch/German Sinter Klaas (Santa Claus) tradition. Apparently you're supposed to leave a carrot in your shoe for... some reason. Being the grouch that I am, I didn't leave a carrot in my shoe, and so got carted off to Spain...
YES! Join us in Movie Sign. Join us for our festive holiday movie insanity. And Cave Dwellers is also a classic, possibly the best of the Joel era of the show. Wonderfully cheesey barbarian movie.

I'm still trying to figure out who's funnier: you guys, or Jeff Dunham. I'd write more, but....not much to comment on this week.
