I totally know what you mean about the 'people hating anime' thing.
Some kids at my school actually used to watch things like Naruto-in fact, I walked into my reading class today, and pulled out Naruto manga vol. 43, and this boy who sits next to me says, "Oh, I haven't seen that in years. I used to watch it in like 4th grade or something. I have the first 8 volumes."
And I said that it wasn't the first time I'd gotten that. I said, "Yeah, I know kids who got into it back then. I'm into this kind of thing now." And it was like totally normal.
But then there's the rest of the school-the ones that yell, "NARUTO!!!!!!" whenever we walk past them in the hallway. I ignore it, of course-but I never understood why they do it. Most of these kids have never heard of the word, 'manga' before. The kids in my classes that see me reading one will be like, "Hey, that's backwards." I'll explain it to them-and they're all like, "Oh, that's cool."
...Sorry. Ramble, lol. Long comment. Anyways...it's not like it really matters. I'm going to high school next year, so I'll never see any of the losers again.
Meh... good show, I'm just depressed because my computer just ate my mini-rant about swine-flu. (sad face)
Basically, I'm glad someone else agrees with me that not eating pork because of the name of a virus is stupid. Swine-flu it's self has been exaggerated by the media because (according to Wiki) 36,000 people die in U.S. from the "normal" flu each year. Additionaly, the responses to it have been even more absurd because Egyptians are killing pigs. The only good thing from this whole thing is cheep pork.
...That wasn't a very short summary. Anyway, I think that arguing with the troll's is futile because ignorant people cling to their ignorance like a leech to flesh. Besides, I think the troll just wanted to piss people off.
Anyway, sorry if this sounded weird, I blame my computer.
It was an excellent show, and it gave me plenty to think about, which I always appreciate.
Man, I totally agree with ya Batou especially on the troll/vulcan remarks about the writer of the article. XD Perfect man, perfect. Also on the swine flu stuff, and... crap I forgot.
The only thing is what's with calling me zows? :| Remember, it's Greek think of the x as a c don't even bother looking at it as an x. I can even post a link to some Greek songs if you wish to hear it. As a fellow podcaster I know you want to be able to know how to pronounce some thing correctly.
lol that made me laugh, at that moment I imagined a dozen piggies (all looking like they were from "Invader Zim) running around in A-kon. Wow...
*ahem*
But commenting on the old hag you've mentioned earlier, unfortunately the number of people that share her views are still numerous, they are dwindling, but alot of radical religious people still see it that way. Or, even normal people, it's an argument that I had to fight with (and still kind of do) with my parents, but I think people do lighten up once you talk to them (if they listen). I know my parents used to think that all anime was blood and gore and nothing but senseless violence since all they had seen was DBZ and Ruroni Kenshin and so on and so forth, so I made a point to buy "Card Captor Sakura" or "Mink" and "Suki" and other non violent mangas and they kind of understood. Now, I'm not saying this lady would be as easily swayed, but I can say that tying her to a chair and forcing her to watch "Spirted Away" or, one that has melted every memeber of my family's heart, (and most hate anime) "My Neighbor Totoro" might make her change her mind.
But seriously, "sexual deviant"? I dunno whether to laugh or go on a killing spree. (not literally, please don't go tracking this account down) I think the sterotype of "nerdy guy in the corner with no friends" still lingers in this lady's mind, because I don't know anyone that's a "sexual deviant". that's just being a bitch.
And invading "her" video games? She does realize that they're made by similar people, or inspired just as you've said. And video games inspire manga, Star Ocean ran in a serilized manga series along with many others.
And swine flu, PSSH. It's all so dumb I laugh. I mean, I'm not saying let's be idiots and run around trying to infect people, but only one death has been reported in the US, and that was of a toddler, and not to say that the toddler isn't important, because it is, but toddler's die of the NORMAL flu, let alone swine flu, plus, the baby just came back from where? MEXICO. Hmm, who'd thought? (HEHEHE PIGGIES)
Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togetha today.
Anyway, I do happen to hate Snow White, but that's just because the main character has a horrifying singing voice and insists on using it throughout the movie.
But yeah, she crossed the line. If you're going to pay someone to troll, they should at least mace sure it's, you know, funny.
The opening song was wonderful. Never thought that was actually an anime theme song. I thought it was one of those mainstream songs in MTV that I never heard of.
About the column made by what many have called "the troll", I'd like to point out some interesting quotes in her comments.
1. In her reply to a comment similar to ours here, she said the following words:
"I have a problem with the anime fan-base that enjoys looking at sexually exaggerated pictures of young children."
The way she said it appears to give the message that she actually has a problem with a portion of the anime fan-base.
2. Also, she made this reply to a comment from someone who likes anime shows but is irritated at the current ecchi content of most anime shows today:
Ok, I can admit that all anime is not evil, although I still do not like the "art" style.
That must clear up ideas about her condemning anime as evil.
3. Despite what she wrote in the comments, that doesn't change the fact that her article said this, although possibly in an ironic or sarcastic way:
If you like anime you are a sexual deviant. Plain and simple.
You guys should try to visit the actual webpage, though at the expense of giving revenue for IGN. The comments give us a better idea of what she seems to be trying to say. And the fact that the article was carelessly written.
Swine flu? Here's an advice: don't panic. One US politician *cough* Ron Paul *cough* said that if you compare this to how many people die of tuberculosis every year, there shouldn't be that much of a fear to panic. Also, the swine flu had already hit the US in the late 1960's (though it was of a different kind). That's not saying the swine flu shouldn't be considered a threat; it simply means that we shouldn't be very frightened and scared about it.
And yeah, after researching what the 4chan meme meant, I realized that I had lost the game.

Nice opening song; 'Shine' from Hellsing is one of my favorite anime openings.
Maybe this is somewhat cynical, SquareEnix people, but sometimes a marriage and a merger are kind of the same thing. Like the political marriages that went on in European kingdoms in the good old days of the Middle Ages and stuff and produced inbreeding psychoses but sort of kept the peace. Wait, is that what's going to happen with games?
Okay, Batou, you be a live-action movie scriptwriter person; I'll be an embittered, uninformed, narrow-minded blogwriter. Hey, both seem to be pretty easy jobs, right? And yes, you are absolutely right, the Who did rock. They still do; that is why every CSI series uses their songs for their openings. Now, sounds like you'd better go take some cold medicine and lie down.
