Tales of Okuri Tale 1 of 7 Big Bad Wolf Brothers

Kiba and Akamaru ran as fast as they could through the snowy forest, but when they arrived at the workers camp, it was already too late. The other ninja had already been taken out. They looked towards the worker’s camp, only to find Masanori being held by the throat, by a tall figure. Kiba, recognizing the man, shouted “OKURI!!!!!!!”

The figure, 20 centimeters over 2 meters, dropped Masanori, letting him fall into the snow. Then he turned to face Kiba and Akamaru. The light shone upon him, and his true nature was revealed. He wore no head dress; his ears were that of a wolf. The fur tied to his waist? Those were actual tails, making motions independent of the wind. His armor was dark, his clothing even darker. By contrast, all the hair on his body was as white as the snow itself, growing thick on his body. The gloves he wore had holes at the finger tips, letting his black curved nails (no, claws were the only word suitable to describe them) show. His feet had claws as well, but his heels did not touch the ground. His pupils were black pearls, embedded in yellow. The shape of his eyes could only be compared to the eyes of a wolf or of some vicious dog: they were unbelievably predatory. His teeth were large, his four fangs especially. If one got close enough, it was possible to see that instead of having 32 teeth like a normal human, he actually had 42 teeth. His nose was, as his ears, definitely that of a wolf; its blackness did well to contrast his white facial hair. On both cheeks, there were tattooed red fangs: the very same tattoo that was supposed to be unique to the Inuzuka clan. His face first assumed a look of confusion and disbelief, and then it shifted to a toothless smile. Knowing he would only show his teeth as a sign of aggression, Kiba was slightly relieved.

Over the years, Kiba had heard many voices. He had heard the voice of Gaara: a deep, rough voice, polite but usually tinged with sadism. He had heard the voices of each member of the Sound Five, but especially the voice that belonged to Ukon and Sakon. None of those voices were like the one that came from him. This voice was very deep and rough, like Kiba’s voice, but somewhat lower and even more like a canine’s. He had a hint of the wind blowing in his voice, as if he controlled the very wind with his breath. “Kiba, Akamaru. It’s about time you paid your older brother a visit.” At the words ‘your older brother’, everyone’s eyes widened in shock. Everyone, except for Kiba and Akamaru, that is. “So, tell me little brother: Was it the Hokage or was it mother that sent you up here to hunt me down?”

“Mother’s dead. The whole family’s dead.” Kiba replied through clenched teeth.

Okuri shrugged his shoulders. “Wasn’t me. I haven’t left this land since I came here, and I don’t think I ever will. The northern wind, the snowy landscape, the freezing temperatures……..I love it far too much. And besides, when I am this far North, the Seven Tailed Wolf…….” He pointed at his torso with his thumb, “…….the demon sealed in side of me……..its power is limitless!” He pointed, this time with his index finger, at Naruto. “It makes your Nine Tailed Fox look like a pup!”

Naruto was surprised. Back when he was a small child, he used to play with Okuri and Kiba. Okuri was one of the few people who wasn’t afraid of him. Hell, Okuri had never seemed afraid of anything. During their time together, Naruto did sense that they had something in common, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. It made sense that he was also a jiinchuriki, and it did not surprise him that Okuri had figured out what he was, but how did he know which demon was sealed inside him?
