“Is that all there is to know?” Kiba asked, getting up.
“That is all I can teach you in this short time. Now we must climb higher up the mountain to talk with Masanori and his daughter.”
“The Big Bad Wolf Brothers. Yes, it is the Wolf brothers. Okuri, Kiba and Akamaru Okami.”
The 3 brothers left the cave which they had been using as a home for the last three months. They began to run up the mountain, in the direction of the construction site. Okuri took the lead, followed closely by Akamaru on the left. Kiba was on the right, but 2 meters behind, as opposed to Akamaru’s 1 meter. They arranged themselves in this formation as to prevent Okuri or Kiba from hitting each other when they drew their swords.
“I wish they were nothing but violent monsters. I wish they had killed me when I was laying down the foundations for this castle. They’re much more than the savage creatures they seem. They may not be more intelligent than any of you, but their cunning, their tactical ways…..they never stop surprising me with how they outwit me. And the sheer power they have….”
Okuri leaped over the high wall and unlocked the massive gate from the inside. The steel doors swung open, letting Kiba and Akamaru run in.
“You brought them here to do your bloody work? I understand you bringing me here, but calling on Inuko was just low.” Said Daichi, enraged and disappointed in his father.
“Hello? I’m not a helpless little girl any more!”
“That’s not the point!”
Okuri sniffed the air. “Damn it, where is that fool? Does he think he can hide from me?” He turned to his brothers. “Fan out and find him. Don’t get distracted.” Then he began shouting into the open air. “MASANORI!!”
“Oh gods, it’s them! They’ve come earlier than I expected!”
“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!??! YOU THINK YOU CAN HIDE FROM ME? YOU ARE WRONG! JUST REVEAL YOURSELF AND GET THIS OVER WITH, I HAVE OTHER THINGS TO DO!”
The wind howled, but it did not drown out Okuri’s voice, it only made it louder. Jun, usually taking comfort in herself in situations like this, grabbed tightly onto Daichi.
