Forum Update: The Lounge

It's been a while since I have posted any topic recommendations here and quite a lot has happened between the last such post and now. I thought I'd go through a selection of interesting topics in The Lounge, which you may want to check out.

Anyone here from 2001-ish? started by KittyLynn

This has pretty much become a gathering place for "oldies" - people who have been around since OtakuBoards.com was established in 2001. I'm kind of surprised at the number of people who still lurk from time-to-time, but who haven't posted in years. This topic has been great for people to catch up with long-time friends.

I Forgot What You People Look Like (Image Heavy) started by 2010DigitalBoy

This topic has been going for ages - it now has exactly 1,000 replies - and it's still pretty active even now. It's interesting to see how people have changed over the years. Newer members might be especially interested in this topic.

Large Hadron Collider started by Drizzt Do'urden

I can't say I was surprised that there are numerous OBers who are interested in science, but this topic has been pretty interesting. Several members have been keeping up-to-date with the news from CERN, as well.

Twitter! started by Pleiades Rising

This topic doesn't yet have any replies, but I thought I'd put it here both because a lot of people use Twitter, and because this may be a good place to share both your own Twitter account as well as any that you follow and particularly like.

The Lounge Round-Up

Apologies for my long absence - I have started a new job and it's taken up quite a bit more time than expected!

I thought I'd post a collection of some of the more interesting/notable threads that have popped up recently in The Lounge.

Steps to become a superhero

There are plenty more great threads in The Lounge at the moment, so I encourage you to head on over and check 'em out.

Padded rooms ahoy!

Well, it's been a while fellow Otakuites - apologies for my absence. It seems that this page died off a little while I was away, too.

If you've been around for a while, you might remember a little thread called The Padded Room Party. It was pretty hectic back in the day. I'm pleased to say that Shy has resurrected it though - and it's doing pretty well.

The Padded Room Party: Random Thoughts

Lots of discussions going on in here - everything from rollercoasters to computer viruses. Have fun!

Present Tiem Nao!

So... what did you get for Christmas?

Now that the big day is over, well depending on how you celebrate it that is, how did it go and what did you get? ChibiHorsewoman was so curious to find out what others got that she started a thread on it over at OtakuBoards on Christmas Eve before most people had even gone to sleep. My family doesn't open presents on Christmas Eve so I found that funny. XD

Anyway, for some reason, this year I got lots of foodstuff, things you munch on like beef jerky, peanuts and cheese and sausage. I don't mind though, you can never have too many snacks. I have plenty of games and other fun stuff that I got too.

So what did you get? If you don't do presents, how did you celebrate the holiday and what kind of day did you have? We got snowed on most of the day here. It was really peaceful and pretty to watch. There's just something magical about snow on Christmas day. ^_^

All I Want For Christmas Is...

Christmas List

I love Christmas. With the lights, decorations, music and all the fun of getting together with family and friends. It never fails to be an exciting time of the year. One of my favorite parts is getting little presents to give to the people I care about. But to do that, you often need a list, that's right... a list of what the person actually wants. Their Christmas list!

So with that in mind, what kind of presents are all of you hoping to get this year? How about in the past? I remember one year when I was given a little plushie dog. I was holding it and thinking it was so cute when my own dog suddenly started growling and took off to the other side of the room. It took me a moment to realize that she was growling at the plushie.

Anyway, if you don't have a list for yourself, what are you giving to others? Got someone special in mind this year?
