A late comment, but as everyone here said for you before, don't give up of your dreams!~
Unfortunately there will always be people who try to destroy our plans.
When I was doing my final work,a teacher said it would not work,we were devastated and sad,but then we seek help and our work was wonderful!^_^
I've lost count of how many people told me to give up what I want for my future, they said I'm hardly a lot of money, but hey!Money is not everything in life!~
Sephine, don't lose focus on what you want for your future and not let yourself be swayed by stupid words.
If you love Fine Arts, there is no reason for you to stop studying it!^_^
Keep the side of people that really support you!

Lol to all of you guys dissing law. Call us when you need a lawyer. I can guarantee you all that at some point of your life you'll need one. And moreover, saying a course is better than other is pretty saying the same as the dude trolling Sephine, there are no better courses than others >_>
Get your facts straight: believe or not, people studying law or medicine actually like them, you need so much dedication for it.
I know I do, that's why I moved courses, so seriously, just stop.
At any rate Sephine, as someone who moved from art school to law school, I have to say it was probably the best decision ever. I don't regret it at all.
Not because I know I'll have a job later or whatever, is because I love it. It's definitely something I enjoy and also, I feel useful. How so? Hopefully in the future I'll be able to provide legal assistance to people in need of it.
The way I felt when I was in arts was horrible, I swear I never felt so miserable in my life. And to study arts you need as much dedication as any other career.
Plus, a succesful person will be succesful regardless the course s/he study. It's a matter of effort.
tl;dr: if you're happy studying fine arts, it's alright and it's pretty much the only opinion that matters. Don't ever let people tell you what you should do and whatnot, it's you future and more importantly, is your life.
Well, I reacted on your post but there is like so much to say!
I'm doing what is considered as Art studies (Literature studies are classified in Arts) and people always say to me since forever that it will lead me nowhere (I was already doing Letters in high school) and that made me laugh so hard, actually. Because they don't even appreciate their studies. It's too hard for them because they don't even enjoy it so, what's the point of chosing medicine or law? Even if studying literature is so damn hard I really like it. I'm sorry but the only thing they do in medicine and law is to repeat what is said to them. Sure, they have a very good memory. They lose their ability of thinking by themselves, we learn how to develop or curiosity to the world.
Another funny fact about them, most of them give up. I had a friend who did scientific studies during high school because she was told to, she never enjoyed it, after she chose law because everyone was doing it and she gave up. After she did scientific studies and she was ready to give up again one month after the beginning. So, what's so great about those studies? It's like everything, it has to be done with passion but loads go there because that's what they have to do to become someone... It's scary, I don't want a doctor or lawyer who doesn't even appreciate what he does, he will do it wrong. In the meanwhile they are watching loads of TV ads and TV Shows. And there's only arts behind that, no medicine or law.
So, a long comment because I was pissed of too XD Just to say that you should not listen to them. I realized that those who says that are only people jealous because they don't have passion or don't have the guts to do studies related to what they like. They don't have self-confidence and that's how they hide it. Besides. If you think about it, if everyone is doing medicine or law, it's harder for them to find a job than for us.
Anyway, stay strong about that and, well, don't give up on what you like. :)
You have to understand one thing and to always keep that in mind. In life there will always be people like that, sometimes less, other times more.
You need to always believe in yourself and know that you are right if you think that you are. If you know that someone is doing that just from the pure jealousy or envy, you shouldn't look to much towards that. It is only one person telling you that! No one else will think the same!
And by that I mean your family, friends and even we from theO here. So let me tell you something, you are taking a really really important course for the modern world. Marketing and advertising means almost a certain job anywhere. And that person mentioned law? I mean seriously, law?! That is one of the worst courses that you can take (at least in my country) and one of the easiest too. And medicine is not for everyone, being in learning or the wish for that.
You have decided to go for something that you like and that's the most important thing. :) I always say that people should choose what they like and not what others do. And next to that, it is a very profitable job today, so you can't go wrong with that. ^_^
I personally always respected for taking that course, that is quite something.
That person was waaaay out of line saying those things. :/ I'm sorry you had to deal with that! I probably would've cried. >> That person had no right to tell you that. I'm sure they were just trolling...especially since you didn't know this person, right? But my goodness, such rude things to say.
Sure, while some would say that a medicine or law degree or something would be "better" than art...well, that's not true. The only perks those have are that if you major in them, you know your path for sure..."Well, I got my medicine degree, so I'm obviously going to be a doctor." You know what I mean? But what's great about the art degree is you can do so many things with it! Especially advertising arts. Advertising is such a big industry, and it's well-paying. :) Graphic designers can be paid a lot, and someone always has the need for one. There's always going to be the "starving artist" types, but really there's a good place for your major in the world. So don't be discouraged by what that troll had to say! *hugs*
I majored in fashion marketing and minored in graphic design. >> Fashion marketing? I mean, really? How many jobs are there for that? XD I'm not even INTO fashion anymore, so it's sort of useless for me, which is why I'm trying to utilize my graphics minor more. :)
