Aw, I feel u bro... Being depressed myself, lately... BUT, you need to try and find a way to enjoy what you're doing, even if that means doing art for yourself aside from what you're asked to do. What I think could be great would indeed be to do some few things just for you the way you want to, to work on your own style while trying to do your homework within the expectations of your teachers...
Meh, I don't know, that's just a random advice. And as for telling your parents about this... wait a little, maybe? Be more confident because you are skilled but, unfortunately, teachers are inside a prison of stereotypes they can't even see. They have expectations but they often forget to adapt them. I don't blame them, that's their job to convey a very specific knowledge and it's hard for them to see outside it.
Though, if you really think there's nothing more you can do to get out of this situation, tell your family before it's too late.
I suggest to ignore everything I just said because it's a real mess now that I look at it XD You're the best, I have faith in you, don't give up!
I completely understand how you feel, because I feel on a similar note with my college.
What only advice I can give you is to always remember this. Give your best and always continue pushing forward. Everyone respects those like that, even if they are not the best, in their eyes they are one of those.
It is like that, because when you finish college one day, all the stress and that depression about the thoughts that you are currently having will be gone.
Then, as someone with a diploma in its hands, you can shape your own style and destiny. It will be much easier, because you won't have the pressure and borders you have now.
You will have a job and a job will requires for you make just certain things, but jobs can be changed and you can always do something else in your free time.
As long as you don't forget it, you will be able to move on!

I'm still passionate with art :) Although I'm aware that the way I put my heart into it isn't as much as really did before. Maybe it's because of the pressure I've been into lately. I'm still intimidated by my lack of skills.

I know. I took a college class this summer and my professor made me change my writing style quite a bit. I hold the opinion that all art forms should be done for the benefit of the artist and I agree with the quote, "The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday." I guess that's hard because you have to give the professors what they want...*sighs* hang in there and don't let their opinions beat you up.
Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Don't be sad about your art! The reason why art is such a loved subject is that everyone puts in something to make it their own. There isn't a right or wrong way of art, as art comes from our souls, hearts and minds. Don't be intimidated by others, be inspired by others because they're artists just like yourself. :)
Every artist has their ups and downs about their journey, so don't be afraid, and if you really love art, don't give up. Believe in yourself as much as well believe in you~ I wish you the best!
Take cares~~
That's the hard part right there. I know we are supposed to have our own styles but some of my professors are biased with their own styles. My classmate did a nice painting with really bright colors but the given score wasn't good to complement it. The prof said it should have smooth coloring.
Some profs are forcing us to shift styles (that ain't bad but still unfair).
Don't give up on your art! Create art for yourself, don't compare it to anyone else's standards. I started out pretty bad at art, but I'm getting better. Just keep trying. Don't try to make it live up to anyone's expectations.
