Could be. The possibility is so low, but hey, it is a possibility.^^
Hah, but for serious it was probably a different problem, virus is really not a hard thing to deal with over the longer period of time. They are dangerous (viruses in this case, trojan horses, spyware and worms and different) because it allows a user to access the data on your computer or just let it modify everything itself, but as you can see it is only for a set period of time.
You can try to scan each file separately and then after you transfer them, to burn them on a disk. Disk have a very rare chance to infect themselves, so I would recommend transferring all the important data with them.
Haha, it is not important what you hate, but what it more productive. :) Either way, which ever one do you chose make sure to keep only one anti-virus scan software on your computer to avoid conflicts and data errors.
I don;t even want to know the logic behind that virus on why it affected my friend's laptop and how the computers at Joli's don't break down. That gives me the feeling that Joli's is owned by Satan and his devil co-workers.
I do plan to format my USB but I want to save a few files from there at least. I just hope I can convince my parents to buy me an external drive immediately.
I just hate Avast with all my heart lol... I'll probably go with AVG or Angel's SpyBot.
Good thing it didn't thanks to the alternative online sites where I can upload my files and download it for printing. Although it sucks for my other classmates because their files became corrupt during submission deadlines.
Well, I use Microsoft Security Essentials. BUT a good thing to have is Spybot - Search and Destroy. Spybot is a great virus/malware remover that also protects. It has saved me many a time!
Hm, what I would like to know is how did that virus manage to break your friend's laptop?
A virus is a software, meaning even if you have the one that is very powerful which you can't track and delete (which are actually rare today) you can just format your hard disk and bring it back to factory settings. It is always useful to have an extra external hard drive to keep your important data for that. Plus, if it capable of that, wouldn't computers from Joli's be already broken from that or wouldn't they notice?
Also for your usb it is the best to do a detailed formatting (it will destroy a virus no matter what it is). You can also put up a firewall on it when you connect it to your PC just to make sure.
As for anti-virus software (this will be funny) from the free ones I mostly recommend avast, because it is very easy to use and very accurate.
If you don't like the voice updates (I think that it is what you meant by noisy things, or?) then you can just turn it off and put on the manual updating.
But if you still insist other very good free anti-virus package is of AVG. Just google it and you will find easily, it is quite known.
That sounds like a pain, getting a virus from a place you need to print from. They should sort themselves out! I hope this doesn't affect your work too much.
Or everything is just plain coincidence.
I could do research but I'm not good with stuff like these (and I'll probably fuck up) so I prefer getting opinions from you guys instead.

No, not at all. I have another anti-virus program too and they both work fine and keep my computer protected.

That's possible...Or maybe I'm just psychic like that.Oh, I see. Well, I'm not that much of a tech-person anyway, so I won't be much help.

Ouch, that's a sucky deal.
Hopefully you can get a decent one.
