I have some new ideas I'm gunna try but first I have to say this sturdy gets on my nerves in black and white because if a move does enough damage that it would ko the pokemon in one hit they survive with one hp.
Rotom's forms changed? That's news to me! (runs to go see) I wonder why they found it necessary to change Magnemite's type and not others, though...Though I'm not sure what others would fit being turned half Steel or Dark....
Well Rotom's alternate forms went through a type change too between the fourth and fifth generations, but yeah, Magnemite's type change is the most significant. And the reason for it seems to be because the writers weren't thinking far enough ahead in Generation One.
Yay robotic Pokemon! Aren't they also the only Pokemon that changed types through generations? I thought that was incredibly interesting about them. Just, you know, poof! You're a Steel-Type now! And I honestly never knew about Magnet Pull (probably cuz I don't use Magnemite's line all that often....); that's pretty awesome!!

@Darkarax:
Very true. And I guess I can't really see any other Pokemon in first gen that would need a type change...

Well Magnemite has a metal body (since it's mechanical), so I guess the writers just thought it made sense.
