I actually found one on a Chansey in Generation IV. Wonderful moment of my life there.
Both times that I've picked Snivy as a starter, she's been female without me even trying. The only other time I got a female starter I soft-reset for her.
Back in the old first generation games it seemed really hard to get my Pokemon into their fifties before the Elite Four. Maybe that's because in those games it wasn't as easy to keep track of how many experience points a Pokemon got in battle.
Any particular reason why you wanted a female Trapinch?
Usually by the Elite 4 my Pokemon are in their early sixties, so I guess it wouldn't be too difficult for me to raise Pokemon that evolve later...it was probably just the waiting that made me not want to raise them XD
And I was looking on purpose for a female one. It was a pretty frustrating search, but only because the Trapinch were pretty hard to find on their own. I only found one male one before finding a female, but it took around an hour of searching in between them XP
I've always thought it was a little easier to get Pokemon into their forties than their fifties. That's one of the reasons why I liked Gold, Silver, and Crystal so much, because the Pokemon of the Elite Four were only in their forties and thus easier to fight.
And you have a female Flygon in Black 2? Cool! So were you looking for a girl on purpose, or is that just how it worked out.
I think that you're right when you say that they're a beginner kind of Dragon-Type. I always balked at raising Pokemon up into their fifties before they'd evolve, but forty-five seemed a bit more manageable to little ten-year-old me. I actually just used a Flygon in my Black 2 playthrough, and while I had trouble with her as a Trapinch and Vibrava, when she finally evolved she was awesome, especially against the Champion.

Ah, okay. I've used Attract sometimes, but only when I had a female Pokemon that I thought the move was suitable for.
But yeah, I kinda like how Ash's Snivy from the anime knows Attract (of course it seems a bit wrong how she sometimes follows it up with Vine Whip).

Nah. Never been too big of a fan of Attract, because it's only useful half the time.

So either of those times you got a female Snivy, did you teach it Attract like in the anime?

Ah the Lucky Egg. I could never find that in Generation Two.
I've had teams where most if not all the Pokemon ended up being female for some reason. Even the starter.

That could be true. In the fifth generation they give you a Lucky Egg so raising Pokemon becomes incredibly easy...
Well, I wanted to name her Kumatora, plus all of my other Pokemon were male, so...
