Well, me and my villain fangirl syndrome might be blowing this a bit out of proportion, but yeah ^^; I know they kind of did something like that with N, the redeeming factor, but it's different because N was raised wrong, while Maxie and Archie consciously made bad choices in their right minds and THEN realized that they were wrong... I put too much thought into these things.
No, they learn from them. But they don't get to prove themselves, so they're still kinda viewed as criminals. It's better than most of the villains on the morality scale, but still...I had high hopes XD
I think it was a big difference from Ruby and Sapphire when YOU stop the calamity by catching/defeating Groudon/Kyogre. Though you do go to wake up Rayquaza, it didn't feel the same. AND I WAS SO PROUD OF MAXIE AND ARCHIE FOR ACTUALLY REALIZING THEIR MISTAKES AND NOTHING CAME OF IT.
Rayquaza's ability did seem to be a heavy implication of that in Ruby and Sapphire.
And I think I kinda get where you're coming from. I haven't actually played Emerald, but as I understand it, all Rayquaza does is just appear before Kyogre and Groudon and they just stop fighting and swim off. It seems a little anti-climactic.
I have a special contempt for Rayquaza and I'm not sure where it came from.
Hmm, maybe because it unceremoniously just fixed everything two of my favorite villainous teams had done without giving them a chance to try and change it themselves? I'm not sure. Also maybe because it fixes everything, you kinda don't.
But it seems like an undeserved hatred, and I should probably not be so cruel to Rayquaza. I do like how its ability makes sense with its story in that it calms Groudon and Kyogre.

You still raise a good point though.

That, that does seem like a bit of a letdown.

You mean they don't learn from their mistakes in Emerald?
