Going with the whole 'copy-of-a-copy' thing, that makes sense.
Ah, yes, tis only speculation until they release more information.
Did you see a picture of one of the new Gym Leaders, Grant? His hair reminds me of Xerneas. I find that really weird and suspicious and very key-to-the-plot-ish!
Yeah, I suppose they could've just taken a DNA sample from the original Mewtwo and made a clone from it. Normally it's not a good idea to make a clone from the DNA of another clone, because the resulting clone would be defective (at least according to Star Trek the Next Generation and this stupid comedy movie I saw once). But considering that Mewtwo was made from Mew DNA that was drastically altered, there probably wouldn't be any danger of that. Anyway, we probably won't know anything for sure until we find out how Mewtwo acquires its awakened form in the game.

At the very least, I'm interested in learning the details of Mewtwo's new form. But it never occurred to me even once that it was a different Mewtwo in the new movie.
Ugh... that's... disappointing... kind of. I mean, we couldn't really expect much with them bringing Ash back for the X and Y saga of the anime. *shudders*
Mewtwo has no gender, right? So obviously the Awakened Mewtwo, if it really is female, can't be the same Mewtwo. That supports the theory (temporarily calling it a theory until it's confirmed) that another group of scientists got a Mew DNA sample--OR, or, they could've gotten a Mewtwo DNA sample and made a second Mewtwo from the first Mewtwo! That would explain why it's called Awakened Mewtwo, since it's made exclusively of Mewtwo DNA and could possibly be female!

That, and it looks like he has gems in his hair.

Probably. I think Grant might use Rock types.

The one gym leader with the robotic arms seems interesting. I'm guessing he uses Steel types.

Me too. I didn't even know they'd added more info on the gym leaders until I saw a fanart of Clemont.

I'll have to take another look. I've been paying more attention to the new Pokemon than the gym leaders.

@Phantom of Neph:
Apparently not. This seems to once again prove that the anime writers are no longer capable of original thinking.
