Requiem
The skies over the Kururugi shrine were covered in clouds, every so often letting a bit of sunshine peek through to warm the world. No matter how much sunshine there was, though, to Suzaku--no, to Zero--the world would always be cold and black.
He'd been ordered to travel into the Tokyo Concession from that somehow still-standing point, and from there, he would...
"Don't think about it," He murmured in his native tongue. Suzaku rose from the ash covered steps, littered with the remains of Mount Fuji's innards, and walked down, leaving transient footprints in his wake.
Suzaku gripped the hilt of the blade that would soon be lodged in Lelouch's abdomen, wondering about his options. If he rain, Lelouch could live for months longer. Maybe years. If he made Lelouch take the Code somehow in the next twenty minutes, maybe eons.
He felt calmer than he thought he would. It was retribution, after all, because he killed Euphie. But was it worth it? From what Lelouch had calculated, his body would slide down to where Nunnally sat, and he'd die seeing her face last of all.
Suzaku didn't want to have to hear her scream.
Closing his eyes tightly, he stopped to look up at a place that he'd most likely never return to. His childhood home. Just as he began to mourn those days, his cellphone vibrated. A text message. He held his breath.
"Sir Zero, move out."
He pulled the mask over his head and let the ash blow around him as he ran the mile or so to the point where everything would end. Suzaku wouldn't fail this mission. Not when he'd already dug the Emperor's grave.
