Aaahhh, a little bit like that series. Only in the later books, and only a slight bit. It has a lot more dying and violence, I guess. And the bad guys actually take big succeeding steps. It has a bit of similarities, but at the same time... totally different.
MAXIMUM RIDE IS MY LOOOOVE. I LOVE THAT SERIESSSSSS. C':
I guess it's just the people who really make it work. If I didn't have my teacher I'd want to shoot myself in the face. She's amazing, and I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in a class. EVER. And my classmates and all the other kids in other classes are crazy awesome.
It's a series by Anthony Horowitz, the guy who wrote Stormbreaker and all the Alex Rider books. It's a realllllly good series, where there are the typical "destined to save the world" five kids. They also have abilities, though they aren't really that prevent in the beginning of the series. They introduce the kids one by one. I just finished the fourth book. C':
I'm at a camp called Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (or WCATY for short), and they take a variety of classes and offer them to... well... academically talented youth. LOL
But my chapter is located on campus at UW-Madison, and we stay in dorms for the three weeks we're here. I'm taking AP US History, while some of my friends are in classes like Computer Science, Totalitarian Nightmares (an English class), AP Art History, AP Music Theory, AP Psychology. The idea of this camp is to cram the entire year course into the three weeks we're here. I'm using a huge text book and we're already half done with it (of course we've skipped a few chapters in order to hit the high points that'll be covered on the AP test). A week left to go!
In short: it's a nerd camp. :D But it's like... a cult, almost. Everyone is very friendly, and you don't have to deal with total idiots since you're required to have standard to even get in the camp (above a certain score on the ACT, recommendation letters, etc.).
Sorry if I make no sense at all. It's confusing. My friends don't understand why I'm here, when I tried to explain it to them. XD
