This is true, I didn't take that into consideration. If you like the kenshin series, I recommend the movies. Okami and I enjoyed them and he's a hard core fan owning almost the complete manga series. I just...don't have faith Hollywood will pay respect to the source material. While I haven't watched the ghost in the shell movie, I've heard god awful rumors. I also agree with you, adaptations need to be made when switching from animation to live action. Just...not when they ignore the source altogether like in sailor moon musicals. The romance between the four generals wasn't a thing -_- Venus has Adonis....

I was just thinking that! i haven't seen the Kenshin films yet sadly, but all the clips and trailers look good. I think it worked because it was based on the comic and not any of the anime. If there had been iconic anime scenes, they would have tried to recreate them in live action, which NEVER WORKS. I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Changes have to be made in an adaptation, and things that work in animation don't nessicarily work in live action. The impression I got from the Kenshin films was that they were made by filmmakers who understood what was good about the comic and what made a movie good, so they were going to make a movie that was good in its own right while celebrating its source material. I suppose its possible that we'll get something similar, but I highly doubt it. they're cashing in on nostalgia, and I doubt they have any real respect for the anime. (Hey look, I wrote a book too lol)

people never learn unfortunately....the only live action that even comes close to doing justice to its anime predecessor was the Kenshin movies. They were at least descent. They however, came from Japan. God only knows what sadness and despair will come from an american anime movie. -cough dragonball evolution cough- oh my, excuse me, had a coughing fit there. I hold no hope for this or the fullmetal and attack on titan series/movie either. As far as I'm concerned, live action anime adaptations should just never happen. You wanna do a cosplay skit, sure be my guest. That's fans having fun and those are always entertaining. Just, for the love of the franchise, don't make more live action T.T....wow sorry I wrote a book lol

I know, right? I hate this new trend of remaking cartoons in live action. If an animation is twenty years old, some nostalgic idiot will pay to see actors in a green screen recreate it.

You'd think people would've learned from the mistake of that horrible live-action Dragon Ball movie from a few years ago. I could tell just from the previews of that wretched film that it sucked.

Honestly wouldn't mind changes to the story. I'm open to them bringing new things with this adaptation as long as it's faithful to the spirit of the anime. We're more likely to get a to-the-letter adaptation of the story with none of the spirit of it and a couple of small but incredibly unfaithful additions.

Oh they probably will. And they'll probably go way off the storyline...

I know. Even if it's not actively horrible, I really doubt they have any respect for the source material. Also, how much you wanna bet they pull a Mira/Motoko and rename Spike so he isn't Jewish?

Right? It's such a callow cash grab, there's no reason for this to exist. I have had it up to here with those stupid live+all-action remakes of cartoons, they're pointless.
