I got a voicemail this morning saying I was a finalist for this scholars program at one of my top colleges! (I'm far from being guaranteed a scholarship, but I get to go to the finalist weekend and get interviewed and all that) I'm so pumped! I probably won't go there if I have to pay full cost. And I really would love to see the campus again, it's so pretty x3
Lol, yes it is xD Seriously, for Global Studies majors, these people simply refuse to look at the negatives of their nation. I'm not saying they should hate the U.S. as much (as I bash this country I don't hate it), just that they should be slightly more open to other ideas. I kinda imagine them becoming diplomats and acting just like America/Prussia in meetings

Exactly. I actually overheard a group discussing who they were going to vote for. One person had solid reasons, while the others just stared blankly and agreed.
I stunned everyone in Global section today. We were discussing socialism and what repeatedly came up was: socialism = bad--> dictatorship; capitalism = good--> democracy. Then I pointed out that not all socialist governments were/are dictatorships and that in Nicaragua, a peasant movement overthrew a (U.S.) dictatorship and established a democratic socialist system, that the U.S. spent millions of dollars to crush. Everyone was at a loss for words that I had dared to say anything malevolent about their beloved nation, but the TA was very happy xD
Yeah, people should know how the system works before using it. And if people are going to go on about how their candidate is better, they definitely should have reasons for why they think that. Or else they were just voting that way because they felt it was socially acceptable, and that's stupid.
It's fine. I perfected the art of ignoring people in that area (in front of library, notorious for people trying to get you to listen to them) because of it xD I shut one of them up with my cynical view on the government. He left with a very confused look on his face. They don't, it's sad how many think that their votes are applied vote for vote, not to the electoral college. Others are like, "I'm voting ____" yet when you ask why, they can't give a coherent answer.
It's outdated and unnecessary. Yeah, one seems like the lesser of the two evils. I refuse to vote, especially after getting fed up with the constant harassment I went through during voting registration time here >.>
I'm not sure why we still have the electoral college. It's weird.
Yeah, I lean more to one side than the other, but I don't like all of the policies and beliefs of either side. And really, they need to learn to compromise.
Exactly! These people don't know the meaning of compromise. All they know is that they're right and that no one else could possibly be making a valid point as well. Someone needs to debunk those two hot-headed political parties. That's part of the reason I chose not to vote. I only have two choices. Either I vote democrat, or republican, otherwise, voting for another party would amount to the same result that refusing to vote does. I also hate the electoral college. Why haven't they transitioned to popular vote already?
Yes! Then they decide to collect the money they need to pay their debts from those that barely have any. Politicians should donate part of their salaries, then they'd be making some progress.I still can't fully understand why those people get paid so much to bicker among themselves.
We'd be in even deeper if it wasn't for businesses. The government's the one that doesn't know what to do with the money, and then tries fixing everything last minute and fails. Yes, if its earned fairly, then its rightfully yours.
Lol, I would take it, but my roommate's taking it now, and she's suffering through it. The class was basically turned into a "survival of the fittest" where even a passing grade won't earn you a pass. You also have to be in the top half.
Yeah, there's definitely some things in the system that are off and need to be fixed. But overall I don't think businesses are "evil" or anything, like some people seem to >__> I'm also sick of everything getting blamed on businesses, because they (both large and small businesses) are why our economy even runs. LOL. And I don't think it's evil to be rich, as long as you earned it fairly. I do know some people don't earn all their money "fairly" but some of them do.
High school doesn't teach economics pretty much at all I'm convinced >___> I took it online as it is, and I still wasn't pleased with the way they handled it. You should take a college econ course if you get the chance :) I think it's really important and no one seems to know much about economics anymore.
*RANTRANTRANT* xD
Yeah. It flows easily and keeps your attention. Nothing like the stuffy and dull writings of other politicians I've had the misfortune to read.
I don't oppose it completely, but I think it should be subject to more regulation, because as is, only the rich are benefiting. But I don't know much about economics. That semester of econ I took in high school wasn't very informative.
Hahaha xD what a coincidence! I got through half of it (it's only an excerpt though) and I have to say, it's good. The arguments are compelling and very relevant to what is going on now due to capitalism being allowed to run rampant.
I definitely don't approve of all of his actions, but I can't say I disagree with some of his motives (you will understand later perhaps) plus he reads 1984 that's just boss.
LOL funny you mention that considering I just mentioned Orwell (I read that half of your comment after I wrote what I have above this xD)
Haha, yes! xD *checks for open spots* There's space in the class, but they all conflict with the classes I was able to get. I'll make room for it some other quarter

I've tripped over it myself a couple of times xD and that's without trying to drag anything out.
I guess not. Or they were bored with their MacBook and decided to steal another identical one >.> I don't understand what goes on in these people's minds
Lol! Now imagine them having to trek through my roommate's mess that's always blocking the doorway xD
Yes, more than likely. I don't know the details, since I'm at home (not that'd I'd know much if I was there anyway xD) I just read my RA's post saying the cops were going to search and interrogate people on the floor. Am I glad I'm not there. Being interrogated is not on my list of things I'm dying to go experience.

At a school like yours, it's probably likely someone stole the laptop just to be mean, right? (I'm assuming they don't need the money haha)
