I really like reading the particular column you linked to. I just hadn't read that one yet.
For me, I still consider myself an anime fan. I've considered myself a fan for over half my life. And the thing is, I still feel like I haven't touched the tip of the iceberg that is anime. There are plenty of series that I want to see. I haven't even covered all of the "classics" and "standards", so to speak. I'm just still curious.
Oddly enough, I've seen roughly about 40 series (either entirely or partially), and there's not one that I haven't found some redeeming quality in. Sure, some I didn't like as much as others, but each one I've seen has some kind of redeeming value to it. Then again, I've seen mostly mainstream anime with fairly good reputations.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
