While the 'kid friendly' of YuGiOh was good, I got the chance to read the manga for the season 0 and you're completely correct. The original storylines are so much more interesting before they are cut apart to be 'kid friendly'

Me too. Especially the name they came up with for Yuzu in the dub. But the only way I'd ever watch the dub of 5D's again is if someone duct taped me to a chair and held my eyes open with something.

I think Crunchyroll has the subs for the original Yu-Gi-Oh! through 5D's. I keep meaning to check that site out, but it never seems like I have the time.

I have no problem with watching subs though. I usually prefer dubs because sometimes it feels like I'm missing too much action while trying to read the subtitles. In this instance though, I'll take a sub over a crappy dub anytime.

I just got done finish reading both your post and the article and the way the person explained the dubbing processes for the Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh series was rather interesting to say the least. I honestly haven't seen the ARC-V dub and I thank my lucky stars that I haven't.

Unfortunately I have seen the dubs of the Original Duel Monsters, GX, and 5D's dubs. I too have started watching 5D's in Japanese from the beginning. Due to life and loss of internet I lost out around season 2 and I need to go back and rewatch the whole series someday.

Meanwhile I am following the Japanese version of Arc-v and I like it and the music is perfiect. Its literally a shame that American dubbing companies only care about selling merchandise here. But I guess that's the way it goes.

Yes I've seen the "Americanized" names of some of the Arc-V characters and they're terrible, I simple refuse to acknoledge them.

Yes the current storylines of Arc-V are taking more of a darker turn. The dub won't be able to dub it right and it will be terrible. Meanwhile I'll still be watching the original Japanese version and will be getting the full story, so that makes me happy.

I read that ANN article. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think. I was never a Yu-Gi-Oh fan and I dropped the Pokemon anime long ago, so I have no interest in seeing them uncut (Digimon is another story, though).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Crunchyroll have subbed episodes of the various Yu-Gi-Oh series? They might be more faithful. If you're a dubs person, though, I can't help you.
