Ouch. I've had to restart my computer because of advertisements before. They're getting a lot more invasive than they used to. And Adblock doesn't always get it.
The thing about that time when I unfortunately fell for that bogus Flash Player trick… it happened to me when I was visiting TheO! Thankfully it hasn't happened again since, but this just goes to show that this trick could happen anywhere.
I would like to add that some websites or advertising can get hijacked. Also free unauthorized sites who don't have original or own the content/media aren't concerned for what may happen to your computer. Thus, they will run any script/advert who's willing to pay. These both are the reasons for the malware. Remember, webspace ain't free and somebody gets paid.
It's users responsibility for what happens to their computer. It's either you visit only non-sketchy sites or teach yourself what not to do on those other sites. Minitok and all other similar sites are sketch.
p.s. I'd extremely advise to scan your windoze computer. I recommend these programs:
Antivirus:
-Avira, Avast, or Avg. Recommended in order. You only need one.
Antimalware:
-Malwarebytes
Anti-Browser hijacking
-ADWcleaner
Junk removal and makes windoze sing again:
Uninstall unnecessary programs then run program below.
-CCleaner - remember to clean registry also.
I'd install and run these in that order. They are all free to use. Only the anti-virus runs in background. The rest are on demand. btw, If you have Windoze10 the built-in antivirus/malware does a pretty good job. but I'd still run at leat malwarebytes and ADW.
Lastly, I'd set your cookies to don't accept or "no 3rd party" (Firefox). I'd also recommend an adblocker but remember to whitelist the sites you trust, Because like this site(TheO), they run with adverts to pay the bills.
Hope that helps. Also sorry if I sound snarky or cheeky.
I would suggest that when any website wants you to update Flash, to go the the actual Adobe site to do the update every time.
Also a lot of Ad blocking programs don't default block pop ups so going into the settings and making sure its on will help with some things. You want to make sure "Block in page pop ups" is working.

Thanks for the warning! I visit MT every so often for references of favorite characters, so this is very important info to me.
I, too, fell for the "Flash" trick once. It was a painful experience.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
