Con Notes

Cousin thinkanti, S-chan, and I all went to a con this last weekend. Made some interesting observations.

  • The oldschool is making a come back. I can't tell you how many Sailor Moon and Pokemon cosplayers I saw. Reason: unknown. But hey, they're classic.
  • When I heard that con attendence had gone up, I didn't believe it. After the con I did. There were SO MANY people there. It took us over an hour to get through the pre-registration line and it's never been that long before.
  • You know what's popular by what people cosplay as. Lots of Links (LoZ), Haruhis, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Death Note, Naruto, the main stays, you know. There were also a lot of girls in kimonos this year....And Alice in Wonderland cosplays. Random but still cool because I love that book.
  • This year's attendence must have been particularly large because it was all over the news this weekend. There was this one point where a marching band came up...? I don't know what that was about.
  • More otakuites should come because really, our meet-ups are a little lonely with only five people. You should come!

Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Sunday was my aunt's birthday and easter so I spent the day at home, hanging out with family. Now school is up and running again and I have a self-portrait to draw. Enjoy your day everyone!

April 1st

It's snowing again today. "Happy April Fool's Day," my friend said to me at breakfast. "And you thought it was spring already."

Jumble of Things

I had ramen today for lunch. It was great. I haven't had ramen in a really long time.

Did you know that it rains under trees? Well, not really, of course. There are some days when it's only "raining" under trees but not anywhere else. I think it's from the water collecting on the leaves and then falling. It happens when it's really foggy in the morning too. I think it's kind of fun, actually. My thoughts jump around a lot (if you haven't figured that out already). Here's an example of when I was thinking about how it rains under trees: You know, that'd be really cool to have in a fantasy novel or something--plants that rain on themselves. Yeah. Under trees it could rain and under something smaller, like house plants, it could just mist. That would be kind of a perk. Self watering plants. No, no. That wouldn't work. They'd end up drowning themselves. The percilation of the soil would have to be really fast. Okay, stopping. You know you're a geek when you start using scientific terminology when talking about fantasy novels. But it's a fantasy novel. No one is going to think about soil percilation. And so now you've glimpsed into my mind. Scary, isn't it?

There's actually snow on the ground today. It snowed a lot last night but it's warmed up pretty fast so it's mostly gone now. I don't think anyone minds though. Everyone is sort of sick of snow from December.

Speaking of geek-dom, I have a musing in mind. It'll probably be my most intellectual one (right up there with my Musing on FF8) but I'm hoping I can explain things clearly enough.

Today is my last day of spring break. I'm very sad. I feel like it hasn't happened at all. I could go for another two weeks. So I'll get to start my week with a test. That'll be great. I'm not worried about it though; I'm more worried about the other things I've got to do this week, like class registration. -_-'

I know this was a total jumble of things (hence the title). Sorry about that. Just thought I'd share my thoughts with you. Hope all of you are well!

The jacket back. <3

Greatest Day Comes to Fruition

Last time I went on how it was the greatest day of my life for three reasons. To recap--1) celebrity chat, 2) S-chan finding LoZ jacket, and 3) WoT update.

I don't wander into the chat room very often. But I was determined to be at this celebrity chat and NOTHING was going to keep me from being there. If you were there, you'll know how crazy it was. If you weren't, let me describe. For one thing, the chat was flying by. Not once was there any lapse or pause in the constant stream of chatter. People were really going crazy. I'm so glad the chats are moderated. The funny thing about me as that the closer I am to something that excites me, the calmer and more serious I am. The chat was no exception. I had a list of questions prepared beforehand and none of mine got in there but most of them were answered anyways through other members asking them basically the same thing that I wanted to.

And then my jacket came the other day. It's a little big for me but I don't really care because it's amazing. Scribblepop wanted some pictures, so here's what it looks like:

This is the front. I'll post the back in the next post I make.

In other, more current things, it's spring break right now. Awesome. I've been really needing this break and I look forward to the sleep and recharge.

Also, I have become a co-president of my school's anime club. I didn't think that I'd jump into a leadership role so quickly but I did. So three of my friends, along with myself, are co-presidents. We've got all sorts of cool things planned. For one, we decided to make ourselves pins stating what we are co-president of (because we split up the jobs) and make armbands, like in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. We're such geeks sometimes. It'll be a lot of fun though. This Saturday we'll be watching Advent Children and 5 Centimeters per Second. I'm most excited for the latter. I loved Voices of a Distant Star and it's by the same director.

There is a con in two weeks that a friend and I, along with cousin thinkanti, will be going to. I can't believe how close it is. It really snuck up on me. This year is going by so quickly, it's crazy.

I know I promised two musings a while ago and I'm sorry I haven't put them up yet. I haven't had the time to do research on The Count of Monte Cristo yet. They're all half-formulated because I've been so busy there's no time to think. Hopefully over this spring break I'll be able to write something decent. We'll see and I'll let you know.

Greatest Day of My Life

Not even joking you guys. And well, technically, it was yesterday. But that doesn't mean anything! So you're probably wondering: "Why the greatest day of your life, red:leaf?" I'll tell you.

1) theO is amazing. My most favorite voice actor of all time is going to be a guest here on Sunday! I can't wait!

2) My friend serenitytsu (I hope I spelled that right, S-chan) found the glorious LoZ jacket that I've been wanting forever and is now not in production anymore.

3) gamer777 updated "Waste of Time." Yay!

In the words of scribblepop: Someone kill me now so I can preserve this moment of perfectness forever. Sigh. So happy.
