I will admit that The Host was a 100% improvement from Twilight. However, that doesn't mean that that 100% made the book good. The Host is what Twilight should have been, I feel. For being an "adult" book, there was almost no difference and I actually think that The Host would have been better fit for younger audiences than Twilight. But that's a whole 'nother conversation.
If you're looking for a good sci-fi book, don't pick this one up. It fails on the good hallmarks of the genre. But if you're looking for a melodrama, it might be worth reading. For Stephanie Meyer, The Host is a step in the right direction but there's still a lot of improvement needed, at least in order to get the approval from this reader.
