The Color Red

The Color Red.
The first and last thing I ever saw was red; my whole world was covered in bright red. I was never given a name, because my body never completed the process into the final stage. Names were only given to the ones who succeeded in completing the final change. It was a symbol of honor. I had been born in a place I called the Camp. The master created us to be stronger, faster, and emotionless, unlike normal humans. We were created for war. Some of us though, couldn’t get past our humanity to complete the change.
I awoke in an alley way, covered in red. It was so cold, I could see my breath. The air was filled with the smell of iron, a quite disgusting smell. There were other people lying around me. They were my fellow failures. Our bodies had rejected us. So master no longer had any use for us, and he disowned us. Master only kept the ones who completed the final stage, and could use to further his research. None of them seemed to be moving. I was the last one alive.
A light appeared, and was doing sweeping motions across the alley floor. Someone was coming near.
“Hey! I found somebody, she’s still alive!” A man stopped, and knelt down beside me.
“Hey kid, are you alright? Its okay now, we’re here to help. Everything is going to be alright.” Another man came, and they loaded me up onto a stretcher, all the time reassuring me I was going to be ok. Once I was in the ambulance, the siren started wailing, and we raced off to the hospital. The siren was so loud, but it gradually became quieter, my world darkening, until I finally fell into unconsciousness. When I awoke once more, I was lying in a bed. I was hooked up to some machines, and there was a soft beeping sound in the background. The room was completely white, except for me. I was still covered in red. There was a nurse doing something next to me. When she noticed I was awake, she asked me in a gentle voice,
“How are you feeling, honey?” I stared at her for a second, and then replied,
“I can’t feel anything. Pain is meaningless.”
Once our bodies began to reject us, we could only feel none stop, searing pain. The master gave us a blue substance to numb, and kill our senses so that we couldn’t feel it.
The nurse had a confused look on her face as she left the room and a man entered. He was wearing all black; he sat down in the chair at the end of my bed. And spoke to me,
“May I ask you a few questions?”
“I guess.” When I spoke, my voice was hardly louder than a whisper.
“What were you doing in that alley?”
I had no response, I just shook my head. Outsiders are not allowed to know personal information on us. He continued,
“Can you tell me what happened?”
Once again, I had no answer for him; all I did was look down. The man sighed,
“I’ll be back later when you’re feeling more cooperative.” The man stood up and left, and I was alone again. What had happened in the alley is to never be known to outsiders. After a certain amount of failures had occurred, we were gathered together, and taken away from the Camp, and disposed of. Master had created other creatures to deal with the disposing of us. They were like chimeras, a mix between a lion, lizard, and wolf. It was their job to kill us, and to get rid of our bodies. But today, something had disrupted the procedure. An elderly couple had wandered by the alley, saw what was happening, and called the police. The chimeras fled, and left the bodies behind and me alive. I was not fooled though. I knew that I was not going to live much longer. I was a failure, and failures were eliminated.
After a few hours, another man came. I smiled at him; I knew him. He had completed the final stage. He was a success, and my best friend inside the Camp. He pulled something out of his pocket, next thing I heard was a bang, and my world was covered in red once more.

Tori

Long ago, humans and Toris use to live together in peace. The Toris were an ancient race of beings, half human half bird, and were highly intelligent. Their life spans were also longer than a humans, infact, unless they were killed by an unnatural cause, they didn't die. Toris had advance medicine that cured most diseases, so dying of an illness was alomst unheard of.
They had healthier living conditions, advance technology, and no army. Toris hated fighting, and the pain that comes with it. They avoided wars at all cost, and tryed to keep the peace. The Leader of the Toris was Xander, his feathers were a beautiful gold, and all of his subjects adored him.
But the rulers of other kingdoms saw him as weak. Xander had such advance technology that he could build a powerful army, and could easily take over other kingdoms. Another kingdom wanted this power, and sought to take advantage of Xander having no army, and annex his kingdom into its own. The Tori kingom had sat upon the shore of the pacific ocean; being surrounded by water would make it an even easier target. The ruler of this kingdom was called Hadrianus. He was a horrible dictator, and many people feared him. He built up his army and prepared to wage war against the Toris.
Now just because the Toris didn't have an army didn't mean they were completely defenseless. Xander had assigned four Toris to the duty of being a guardian. Each one possessed the power of an element; water, fire, wind, and earth. They were stationed at the four gates of the city to guard and protect the city from any possible threat.
After months of preparation, Hadrianus was finally statisfied with his army. He would declare war at the first sign of light the next day. Miles away in the Tori kingdom, they were celebrating the birth of Xander's first born child. It was a healthy baby girl, and she had the most beautiful silver feathers. Xander had thrown a feast to celebrate this good news.
Hadrianus's soliders were marching under the cover of darkness, stopping a mile short of the Tori kingdom, and there they lied in wait for the sun to rise. At the break of dawn, the soliders smashed through the eatern gate.
They set houses on fire; the toris fled from their homes screaming. The soliders waited for them in the streets, and attacked them the second they were out of the house. The guardians tryed to extinguish the fires, but the fires spread, and the screams of their people was to much for them to handle. They were not prepared for battle, and could not handle the hardships that came with it.
Xander was outraged, he had been betrayed. Xander walked out to the balcony that over looked his kingdom. He cursed the humans; one day his people would return, and have their revenge. Their revenge on the greedy, selfish creatures that called themselves human. They would return to see if they were still full of greed and haterd, and if so, they would destroy every last human.
With his last words, he lifted his arms into the air and brought waves crashing down on his kingdom, extinguishing the fires and washing away the enemy soliders. He began to break away the land of his kingdom; separating it from the rest of the world. Water rose and surrounded the kingdom, dragging it below the sea to never be seen again.
Hadrianus's men returned home to their kingdom and informed him of what had happened. This news filled Hadrianus with fear; he had brought the wrath of the Tori king. He feared the return of Xander and his people, and spent the rest of his days in fear. Until one day, he disappeared, and he was never saw again.
The memory of the Toris began to fade away over time. What once had brought fear to humans, was turned into nothing but a fairy tale, to be enjoyed by little childern. But the day would come, when the Toris return to pass judgment on the humans. Will they pass? Or shall fail?

Chapter 1
Grandpa closed the book, we were sitting on the couch in front of the fire. He had just finished reading to me the story of the Toris.
"Read it again grandpa, please! Just one more time." I begged, gripping my hands together. My grandpa let out a warm laugh.
"I'm sorry Alex, but its time for bed. Its already past your bed time, and 8 year olds need their sleep. It helps them grow big and strong." He picked me up, and carried me into my room.
He laid me down, and tucked me into bed. He kissed me on the head, and said, "Sweet dreams Alexander."
As I drifted off to sleep, I dreamt of meeting the Toris, and playing with them. We were in a field of wild flowers, when the sky turned dark and the ground disappeared. I fell into water, and began to drown. While I was choking on water, the Toris flew in circles above the water, pointing and sneering at me.
I awoke frightened. I climbed out of bed, and ran down the hall to my parent's room. I knocked on the door, and pushed it open slowly.
"Mommy? Daddy?" I whimpered into the dark room. A bed side table was flicked on, and my mom was sitting up.
"Are you okay? What's wrong?" she asked me.
"I had a bad dream, i was drowning, and no one would help me." I replied walking over to her. She pulled me up into the bed.
"Its okay now. You can sleep with us. Your dads an excellent swimmer; he'll protect you." And with that she pulled up the cover, turned off the light, and we went to sleep.

Night Mirror: Chapter Two

I’m in to vampires, demons, angels, and crap like that. My room is filled with books and movies about them. I started liking them when I was 5 years old. Right before my mom left, she had taken me to this museum thing, and inside were the most beautiful pictures. The pictures were of angels, vampires, and other mythical creatures, and in the middle of the whole museum was a statue. It was of an angel, she was so pretty, but she looked so sad. Her face looked like she about to cry, it was so sad. I had asked my mommy, ”Mommy why does that angel look sad?”
“Well, Emily, I don’t know, but your right she does look sad.” my mom said looking up at the angels face. I my mom’s voice sounded sad when she said that. I looked up at her face to see she was crying.
“Mommy, what’s wrong mommy?” I said grabbing my mom’s dress, and stared at her.
“Its nothing, dear, do you want to look at the paintings now?” she asked walking away from the statue to look at a picture.
Ever since then I go to that museum to look and read about mythical creatures almost every week, I loved it there. And I’d have to say that’s how I got in to mythical creatures.

I pulled into the school parking lot, and found an empty parking spot. Getting out of the car I see my friend walking towards the school. Running towards her I yell,
“Yo Meroko, wait up.”
Meroko turned around, smiled, and waved.
“So Emily, anything interesting happen to you over the weekend?” Meroko asked opening the door.
“I had the weirdest dream last night, I was in a dark empty house. And there was this empty room, but I guess it wasn’t empty cause in it there was this HUGE mirror. It had cravings on it of an angel and a demon. When I touched it, I felt this sharp pain, and then woke up.” I said walking in the door.
“Wow, do you think it means anything?” Meroko had this thing for thinking dreams mean something.
“I doubt it, but when I think about it. The angel on the mirror was the same as the angel in that museum. ” I said as we sat down at our desks. She got this excited look on her face. But before she could say anything else the teacher came in and started the class.

Night Mirror: Chapter One

I turned the corner to see a dark, empty hallway, with a door at the end of it. I cautiously started to walk down the hallway towards the door. When I got to the doo...
