Getting closer to the top ten.
20. Dominion Tank Police
I like me some Tank action and Dominion fills that gap for me. This was also British dubbed, a rarity in this day and age.
19.Shimoneta
Dirty jokes, nudity and copious amounts of sexual innuendo and panties, and political commentary on the bizarre nature of censorship. Tumblr really should've watched this show first.
18. Pokemon
Yeah I'm one of those Pokemon players but I hold the anime in high regard not because it's been on the air for eons but because it's still entertaining.
17. Paradise Kiss
Another one about the complex emotions of adolescence, whether it be the lead girl not being able to decide her future, the toxicity of certain relationships, the emotions of coming out as LGBT or the artistic vision of a young designer, all difficult subjects are tackled correctly.
16. Ashita No Nadja
A genre missing from anime of today is the European adventure, inspired by the adventures of Heidi and descended from Candy Candy, these shows are about young girls going on epic journeys to find their true selves whether it be royalty or as a performer, Nadja is the last and best of this genre and I hope it comes back one day. Maybe Precure could try it out.
As promised the next set on this list.
25. Maid-Sama
A believable love story between a feminist over achiever and the mysterious most popular guy in school. It's best moments come from Misaki learning how to open up and accept help from others.
24. Hidamari Sketch
An anime I can watch with a fine wine, this slice of life is a peaceful watch with a little bit of surreal.
23. One Punch Man
Finally an OP superhero done right, an absolute fun series to watch and may it continue to do so in season 2.
22. Log Horizon
One of two shows the same as Sword Art Online but so much better, while I cringe at MMORPG politics this series does it right and shows how NPCs really think of the players in their world.
21. Shokugeki No Soma Food Wars
As I mentioned earlier up the list, I love food, and Food Wars gets me pumped up for cooking, add the absurdity that comes with anime and you've got a recipe for success.
Last one tonight, after this just 25 to go.
30. Ouran High School Host Club
If there is one series that stands the harem genre on it's head it's Ouran Host Club. A colourful array of charismatic characters with the right amount of charm for it to be enjoyable.
29. Bubblegum Crisis
The only cyberpunk anime you should see and one of the best 80s anime ever made, a must watch even for those younger than me.
28. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
A show that made me believe there is still anime out there for the 25+ crowd. A heart warming comedy about a dragon maid's devotion to her female office worker master.
27. Naruto/Boruto
The ninja epic that entertained a generation of otaku, I was going to put it lower but then Boruto got made and that raised the bar for character design, so it got much higher.
26. Dragonball Franchise
No matter how many times I criticise this franchise it always finds new ways to entertain me. The abridged series does help.
Next please.
35. Azumanga Daioh
One of my favourite school comedies and one which I would always watch when I get a chance to, a perfect cast of characters rounded off by a perfect story.
34. Tenchi Muyo
The godfather of harem anime, Tenchi Muyo was the anime that made me believe there's more to anime than action.
33. Amagi Brilliant Park
The creators of Full Metal Panic prove they are better at comedies, this is definitely how I picture theme park employees.
32. Ex-Driver
This anime is a warning to Elon Musk on what can happen if driverless cars become mainstream. It's also got realistic car drawings which is always a win in my book.
31. Nerima Daikon Brothers
A musical anime with the best dub ever, the creators just said, anything that doesn't make sense translated just put in a sex joke, and it worked. Bloody funny.
Were not far off now, there will be 25 left by the end of the day
40. Inazuma Eleven
A true spectacle of sport, weirdly based on an rpg of all things, Inazuma Eleven takes the high power shots of the game and ramps it up to eleven.
39. Hamtaro
The ultimate safe anime of the late 90s, the little Hamtaro and friends try and solve problems and try and make sense of what their owners are saying.
38. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
With a style no one can equal and one of the few soundtracks reliant on Western music, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is an absolute over the top joy.
37. Air Gear
One of my biggest inspirations for story writing, from the awesome soundtrack to the utterly absurd story, Air Gear is one flying anime.
36. Gundam Seed
It's probably the only Gundam series to really take both the old and new of the franchise and fuse it into one great war epic. Would've been way higher if not for Destiny.
