Hi I'm Dranzerstorm
You may remember me as a regular contestant on the caption battle contest.
Welcome to Retro Retrospective, my world dedicated to the old guard of the Otaku world; expect some reviews of the old & obscure, and in-depth geeky knowledge with the occasional top ten and I now have a logo.

Little info about me
Well I'm British and I'm in to all things animated and nostalgia.
I've grown up with every cartoon going and have watched hundreds of anime.
Oh and to answer a question I was asked once, no I don't wear glasses in real life, I would wear Loke's sunglasses though.

Waiting in the Summer Review

From a bad romance anime with sci-fi elements to a good romance anime with sci-fi elements.

Kaito is a normal school student with a keen interest in filming, while testing a new film on his old camera, a bright light strikes him, injuring him, he wakes up in bed the next day seemingly okay but upon arriving at school, a red haired girl named Ichika transfers into his school, believing her to be linked to the incident, Kaito and his friends invite Ichika on their summer film project along with Ichika's friend Remon, what begins as an accidental meeting becomes a whirlwind romance of summer love between multiple characters.
This setup seems familiar if you've ever seen Onegai Teacher, well it has more in common than you think as it's actually set in the exact same universe and is a distant sequel to Onegai Teacher and pretty much the same setup with the love story between human and alien.
With these factors the romance written is solid and very mature, it's greatest strength is capturing the essence of growing up in the later teen years, it never shys away from the stronger subjects treating the subject of sex with dignity and respect; it's sci-fi elements are pretty weak and slightly distracting and Remon's part in the story is very Mary Sue, otherwise it's a solid mature romance story.
No dub, but one is being released this year, there is talk of a sequel but nothing as of 2019.
Final Verdict: A solid, mature romance anime from the makers of another solid, mature romance anime, sadly they haven't solved their sci-fi storytelling issues but don't let it distract you.
