Hi I'm Dranzerstorm
You may remember me as a regular contestant on the caption battle contest.
Welcome to Retro Retrospective, my world dedicated to the old guard of the Otaku world; expect some reviews of the old & obscure, and in-depth geeky knowledge with the occasional top ten and I now have a logo.

Little info about me
Well I'm British and I'm in to all things animated and nostalgia.
I've grown up with every cartoon going and have watched hundreds of anime.
Oh and to answer a question I was asked once, no I don't wear glasses in real life, I would wear Loke's sunglasses though.

Kill la Kill Review

Let's keep this up, here's another review.

Honnoji Academy is a school with a strict hierarchy of order led by a fearsome student council ruled by the iron sword of Satsuki Kiryuin.
Aiming to disrupt the order is Ryuko Matoi, a vagrant who challenges the Student Council with a large scissor blade hoping to find her father's killer especially when she learns that Satsuki has the other half of the blade. But after being defeated by Honnoji's Goku uniforms, special outfits that grant super human abilities, Ryuko ends up finding her own sentient version called a Kamui later named Senketsu that gives her the power to take down the Council and Satsuki. But her grudge may bring her closer to some unwanted truths.
Completely unrestrained from common sense and very much aware of it, Kill la Kill is a bonkers over the top action series that consistently brings delight on every viewing. It's funny, it's ridiculous and it's awesome.
Pity the story screwed itself over, my one biggest pet peeve is Satsuki, while she is argubly one of the most entertaining characters of the show, I point blank hate the idea that everything leading up to the final battle against the real final villain Ragyo, was all Satsuki's plan all along. This would've worked in a more grounded action show but Kill la Kill relies on being utterly ridiculous at all times so Satsuki acting as if she expected certain scenarios to happen is not only bull shit but breaks the story beyond repair and that is a real problem.
Dub is fantastic, you can tell the cast had fun with it.
Final Verdict: While it's ridiculous premise doesn't work with the way the plot is presented, it's still a solid action show with a great cast and plenty to enjoy.

Top 100 Anime 65-61

My aim is to get to the remaining top 50 by the end of the night.

65. Kill La Kill
Delightfully over the top and not ashamed to showcase as much skin as possible. A delight to watch and one of the best action shows in recent years.

64. Trigun
The most pleasant yet most dangerous protagonist to ever come out of an epic anime action show. Vash just makes this show special.

63. Darling in the Franxx
A complicated story of children, demons and aliens mixed with complications of war, romance and politics, everything Evangelion should've been.

62. World God Only Knows
A dating sim champion forced to try his skills on real women, it not only works but the insane details that go into this is baffling.

61. Gundam ZZ
My favourite Gundam series for it's characters, and feels more authentic compared to the original and the unwatchable Zeta Gundam.
