WANT SOME GUM?
Lee stood alone on a balcony, staring out at the beautiful Konoha scenary. “Oh, Sakura-chan.” He sighed quietly, looking at the pink-haired kunochi from a distance. “Why won’t you go out with me? Did you forget that incident so many years ago?”
“What incident?”
Lee turned around quickly. There stood his teammate, Neji Hyuuga. “Nothing, my rival!” he said cheerfully. “I was just reminiscing the past!”
“The past? You had something to do with that girl?” Neji asked. “What’s going on, Lee? What haven’t you told us?”
Lee sighed. “Oh, Neji, my youthful teammate, thank you for worrying about me.” He said, patting Neji’s shoulder. “As your reward, I will tell you about me and Sakura-chan.”
“It’s not that I want to know...You just seemed so depressed. It's not like you” Neji replied, a little taken aback at Lee's exuberance.
“Well, it all started years ago. I was about seven at the time...”
“Loser!” A boy with brown hair spiked up shouted. “You can’t be a ninja! You can’t even use your chakra right!”
Lee ran from the children, covering his ears and humming to himself. The tears were streaming down his face as he ran into the forest, where he sobbed.
After a few moments of lonlieness, a hand patted Lee’s shoulder. Lee turned around quickly, to see a younger, pink-haired girl with a pretty hair tie in the back of her hair. She was smiling sweetly at him. “You ‘kay?” she asked, sitting down next to him.
Lee gently shook his head. “No, I am not...The kids at the academy were picking on me, because I cannot be a ninja. I can't even use chakra correctly...I'm so useless.”
The girl looked at him strangely. “You're not useless!” She exclaimed.
“I am. I cannot use ninjutsu, genjutsu, or taijutsu.” Lee said sadly.
“So?”
Lee turned to the girl. “What?”
“So what? I’m weak and a crybaby, but I’m gonna be a ninja.” The girl said, smiling. “Ah!” she quickly dug into her pockets, and pulled out a dark green gumball. “Want it?” she asked, offering it to Lee.”
Lee slowly took the gumball. “Thank...You...” he said through his tears. The girl just smiled and held his hand until he stopped crying.
“And that is what happened.” Lee said. “Yes, the youthful Sakura-chan lifted my dull spirits when I was a lad! I just wish she would remember!”
“Of course she wouldn’t remember…She was six at the time.” Neji said bluntly.
“AAAAAH!! NEJI, YOU UNYOUTHFUL JERK! I CHALLENGE YOU!!” Lee screamed, spurred on by youth.
“Right...I’m just glad you’re back to normal.”
THE END.
