@ master hikio: Thanks for the comments =) As for the fanart debate, for me it actually made no difference. I think now after several years in the market, we make more money without the fanart. I will still do fan art, but only on a commission basis. I.e., if it's the only art piece of it's kind in existance, I do it. I don't mass produce fanart ever. =) I think it's all very much up to the individual artist.
@ Larka-chan: Remember that one man's poison is another man's treasure and love! Just because YOU think you have issues with your art doesn't mean that someone out there might not buy it. Trust me, I have TONS of issues with my own art. But I still sell it. =) Beauty truly is in the eye of the behloder. I encourage you to step out there and truly get yourself into an AA! Just start out with a somewhat smaller show. You may not make the profit you'd like, but it's still a great way to get started.
Wow, new otaku person! Cool. I'm pretty unkown here, but its nice to say hi!
Wow. Its my goal to one day be good anough to be at the artists alley, but I wouldn't have a clue on what to do. Im very..inconsistant with my art( Perfectionist with not a drop of artistic patience..* used it up on my little brothers*) And I think that I'd have to be good all the time instead of half lol. But I can lazily daydream in math class right?
Aw dude! I totally would've published all those life posts before this one! Ah well . . . just means you'll hafta write more fantastic work for the future, right? 'Cause seriously, reading this was a real treat.
That said, welcome to theOtaku. The dress is casual, the staff are pretty close with the members, Wikipedia deleted our entry way back when, and the top 3 countries that generate our site traffic are the USA, Canada, and the Philippines. I also would have mentioned that Adam's a dawg, but you're already married so you should be safe.
One of those may or may not have been a lie. Maybe.
I really like how you showed us when it would be best to start going to the dealers hall, but I do have one question.
When your not selling fan art but original art, do find that you get less business or does it not matter? Oh I got another. Whats more important being a very good artist and being an alright business person or being a very good business person and being an alright artist?
You know that someone truly cares when they brick you like that. -AZ
