Chapter 13: Really!!!!

Halloween came and went and now it was the weekend. I got up earlier then Hiro did. I fell asleep during the movie last night. I know that because I was still as my desk when I woke up. Katara must have gone back to her room after the movie because she wasn’t laying in my bed anymore. I put on some shoes and walked into the hall and went outside. The morning air was brisk and there was frost on the grass. It was getting colder out. It was going to snow soon. I could tell by how cold it was as I put my hands in my pockets and walked to Doc’s office.
I knocked on the door to his office, but I didn’t get a response so I opened the door. I saw Doc leaning against the window and I ran over to him. “Are you alright?” I asked.
“I’m fine, just a headache.” He smiled at me and stumbled a bit as he pushed off the wall and leaned against his desk.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him.
“I told you it’s nothing.” He stated.
“Something is wrong, please tell me.” I asked him.
His hair went from a grey and darkened to black and he grew about a foot. His breathing went back to normal and he opened his eyes and looked at me with piercing yellow eyes.
“You used that changing potion again didn’t you?” I asked him.
“No…this is what I really look like. It’s not because of the potion. I didn’t adopt you, you’re my little brother.” He said I just stood there not knowing what to say to him.
“I…I…why did you keep this from me? Why didn’t you tell me that you were my older brother?” I asked I had so many more questions that I wanted to ask him, but I didn’t want to start rambling.
“The orphanage wouldn’t let me take you away from there when I was 16 so I came up with the potion and I was able to pass as Doc so I was able to get you out of there. Because you probably wouldn’t remember what I looked like from when we were younger I kept it a secret from you. I should have told you sooner then now. I’m sorry Hei.” He apologized looking me straight in the eyes.
I knew he wasn’t lying to me. I could just tell. I hugged him, “Idiot, all this time I thought that I would never see my brother again and you’ve been with me this entire time.” I felt tears swell up in my eyes.
“I’m sorry Hei.” Was all he could say as he hugged me back.
“Why did you want to start this school then? Why do you keep experimenting with these random things?” I asked.
“Because I’m a scientist, that’s what I enjoy to do.” He answered.
“But it’s not right.” I commented.
“I know, but I’ve been given permission to do so, so why not. They don’t have any serious side affects.” Dan commented.
I sighed, “So can I just call you Dan when you are in your normal form and call you Doc when you as in the older form?” I asked him.
“That works. I kind of want to make a different type of changing potion, one that will let someone else change your appearance, or maybe on that changes a persons gender…” He started rambling and went over to his desk to take notes and start writing about how he was going to make them.
“You’re ridiculous.” I laughed a little and shoot my head.
“Why don’t you go and get something to eat.” Dan said not looking up from his notes.
“Did you want me to bring you some coffee?” I asked as I wandered to the door.
“Yes please, you eat first though.” He answered.
“Alright, sounds good.” I waved as I opened the door and left his office.
I looked at the clock as I went to the cafeteria, it was about 9 in the morning I didn’t know if Hiro was even up yet, but I was fine with eating alone. I was pretty use to it. I got my breakfast and sat down as one of the smaller tables that would only seat about four or five people. I ate slowly to see if Katara or Hiro would show up.
