Ghost

Chapter 20

I continued watching the movie that was on tv. I love how far anime has come. This was amazing. I didn’t even care that I was geeking out right now. It was well worth it.

“Mind if I change the channel?” Vera’s mom asked.

“It’s your house. You can change the channel if you want to. I don’t mind.” I answered. The movie just ended anyways.

She changed it to the news and I looked around to see where Vera was and I couldn’t find her. “Where did Vera go?” I asked out loud.

“Oh I think she wandered upstairs.” Her mother answered.

“Alright.” I nodded a little. Do I go up there and see what she’s up to? She usually tells me when she’s wandering upstairs. I hopped over the back of the couch and floated upstairs. “I’m coming in.” I said through her door and then fazed right through. “What cha’ doing?” I asked her as I wandered over to her desk.

“I’m writing in my diary. Your not allowed to see what I’m doing go away.” She instantly laid on top of the book that was on the desk so I couldn’t see it.

I sighed a little. “Fine.” I pouted a little and wandered back towards the door. “I’ll just find it later and read it anyways.” I commented and the pillow that she was sitting on flew through me and hit the door.

I chuckled “I’ll be down stairs.” I said and fazed back through the door. Why was she being so secretive about what she was writing? I shouldn’t worry about it too much it was nothing major.

I went back down stairs and watched the news with her mother. I heard the water start up in the bathroom not too soon after. ‘Maybe that was the real reason she was embarrassed. She was getting undressed and I walked in on her.’ I thought. ‘If that was the case she should have said something.’

After about a half an hour the water stopped. She must have been shaving her legs or something. I haven’t heard her take that long of a shower before. I was starting to get worried. “Does she always take that long of a shower?” I asked her mother.

“She must have been thinking. That happens from time to time where she forgets that she’s in the shower and she’s brainstorming something.” Her mother answered.

“Oh okay. That makes since. With the water beating down on you it can be very relaxing and let yourself think of other things.” I responded.

“You have a very detailed way of explaining things Zak. Maybe you could teach some of the kids today how to be that descriptive.” She giggled.

I quickly looked down at my lap and my glasses heated up. “S-stupid glasses.” I muttered taking them off and wiping the fog off them with my shirt. They always fog up when I get embarrassed.

“I’m going to head to bed. Did you want me to leave the tv on for you? “She asked.

I shook my head. “No it’s alright. There are books I can read and there are other things I can do.” I declined.

She Shut off the TV. Well good night Zak.” She smiled at me then wandered to the master bedroom.

I wandered up to Vera’s room and gather up enough energy to knock on the door. “Can I come in?” I asked.

“Yes.” She answered back and I fazed through the door once more to see her in bed with her light on her nightstand on. “You heading to bed?” I questioned.

“Not just yet. Just working on a few things.” She answered typing on her laptop. “Thank god the internet is being hooked up tomorrow. I’ll actually be able to do some research.”

“Research on what?” I was curious as I sat on the edge of the bed. Close to her and took off my glasses and started playing with them a little bit.

“Stuff.” She answered.

“What kind of stuff?” I asked.

“Just stuff.” Her cheeks flushed a little.

I got my face close to hers. “You know if it’s about me all you have to do is asked.”

“W-who said it was about you?” I smiled as her face went red.

I couldn’t help but laugh a little. “I’m only joking with you. I know you would come to me if you wanted to know something about me. I’m going to go downstairs and read a little.” I stood up and put my glasses back on. “Have a good night Vera.” I smiled down at her.
