Chapter 32
✾Zak✾
I sat in the living room with Vera’s father as he watched the news. I was slouching on the couch and starting to sink into it as I bounced my leg. It was a fidget habit that I’ve always had when I was worried and or nervous.
“I should have gone with her to school today.” I muttered.
“She’s got to get use to the school on her own.” Damian commented. He was starting to get use to me being around.
Originally I was rotating every other day going to school with Vera so that ways He could get use to seeing me around and what not. It’s been almost two weeks now that he’s been home. I can still sense his uneasiness around me but it is going away.
“I know, but I just feel like somethings off.” I sighed crossing my arms over my chest.
“Stop fidgeting.” He said and I did stop tapping my foot but it just went to my fingers tapping my arm instead.
I got up and sighed. “I’m going to the school. I just have to make sure she’s okay.” I said and left before he could tell me no.
I don’t know what it was it just felt like something bad was going to happen. I flew to the school and through the doors. “What time is it; what time is it?” I muttered to myself looking around for a clock.
When I found one I thought to what her schedule was. “She has gym right now.” I muttered and went to the gym. The boys were just starting to go into the main part of the gym but the girls weren’t.
I took a breath and then went into the girls’ locker room. There were some girls left in there and they were in matching one-piece bathing suits. They were going swimming today. Oh no… I flew out of the locker room and to the pool. Those girls that were always picking on Vera were out in the hall laughing. That gave me a really bad feeling in my gut. Phasing through the door I saw bubble coming from the deep end of the pool. I flew into the water. I didn’t have to hold my breath considering that I’m dead. I saw Vera just hit the bottom of the pool. I went towards her. “Please, please work.” I muttered as I took a breath and concentrated and phased into her. I had built up enough energy to where I was able to stay in Vera instead of just go right through her.
‘Zak...Zak please help me.’ I heard her voice echo around me.
“Vera, I’m here. Please don’t freak out, especially not now. I need you to trust me. Do you trust me?” I wasn’t going to try a possession unless she completely trust me.
‘Y-yes, yes I trust you.’ She answered and I cold feel her slipping from me.
“Okay, I’m getting you out of here just hold on.” I told her and focused so I could take over her body. It was the first time in so long. I could feel the smooth tile that was at the bottom of the pool. Her lungs were tight and were pounding. She didn’t have much air left in them. I had to get her out of the water. I got her legs under her body and pushed off the floor propelling us up to the surface. I took a deep breath for her to get air back into her lungs and managed to get her to the side of the pool and out. I felt exhausted and ended up getting pushed out of her body.
She started coughing and the gym teacher came running over to Vera along with the other girls that were in her class. Then the one girl and her friends came in laughing.
“Vera what happened?” Her gym teacher asked.
“I-I can’t swim…” Vera went into a coughing fit. “I got pushed into the pool.”
The three girls that push Vera into the pool stifling their giggles. They must not have seen the gym teacher because of what they said “Did you have a nice swim dead end?” I clenched my fists. I was so angry that they did that to Vera. They called her names and pushing her in the pool.
“Addy…” their gym teacher said and she started to scold her as another girl went to go and get the nurse.
I didn’t realize that I was making the lights flicker till the bulbs exploded and all the girls screamed. “Oops…” I said quietly as the gym teacher carried Vera out of the room and the other girls ran out. I left the pool and the nurse was there and a couple of the girls helped get Vera to the nurses so she could get checked out. I followed them to the nurses and the nurse called the house. One of the girls that I figured was an acquaintance of Vera’s brought her her clothes. She was going to be going home for the day that’s what I was getting from everything that was going on. I waited outside the curtain as she got dressed into what she wore to school today then she pulled the curtain back before she went back to the bed. I wandered over and lightly brushed her hand to let her know that I was still there. Her father got there and I leaned down and whispered in her ear.
“I’ll see you at home. Try to relax a bit.” Then I straightened up and waited till Vera and her father were heading out of the nurse’s office before leaving for home myself. I hope that me doing a possession didn’t hurt her in anyway.
