I know a lot about this problem, in fact we learned even more about it in social studies this year.
This is a horrible, horrible thing going on, and thousands of people worldwide are working to end this problem.
A website/organization that I wanted to be a part of (but sadly wasn't able to) was Displace Me, where you live for 24 hours in a cardboard box (or less) in a park with hundreds of other people in a giant protest (several of these events happen nationwide on the same day) to make the government see that we should be helping over there.
Rock For Darfur was a giant fundraiser where you could buy tickets to famous bands and all the benefits would go to Darfur refugees.
A company that sells bracelets made by Darfur refugees raises money for that person as well. My s.s. teacher sold them in our "house" at school and we raised a LOT of money. We combined with one of the other houses and helped a lot of people.
But not nearly enough.
Thanks for bringing these issue to people's attention!
omigosh, i heard about that, it's so sad that that kind of thing is happening there and all over the world. And while most of us just spend there days not noticing what cruel type of thing is happening in the world, that is horribly depressing. I hate it how the women and children get raped by the ones they are saved by... I also agree that the war with iraq is pointless and China needs to stop worrying about the olympics and to focus on other peoples lives (Souls over Sports)---we should spend more attention to helping other colonies and regions and such that are in need. Your post was very encouraging and I will try to do as much as I can to help those people that are crying out for help. i'm looking forward to more posts---
